A Vancro Integrated Interpreting Services (VIIS) Communications and Engagement Specialist supports organizational visibility, outreach, and connection to the communities we serve. The Communications and Engagement Specialist is responsible for managing the organization's social media platforms, website updates, assisting with virtual event facilitation, and supporting community engagement initiatives.

This position requires fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), and strong cultural awareness of Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing communities, as our staff, consumers, and contractors are representative of these communities.

The Communications and Engagement Specialist must be tech-savvy, organized, and able to manage multiple projects while fostering positive public engagement. Real-world experience working remotely is required, along with the ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed team environment.

This is a primarily remote position, with occasional travel and in-person requirements for events, outreach activities, or meetings as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following):

• Manage and create content for Vancro’s social media platforms to increase community engagement and organizational visibility
• Support updates and content management for the organization's website
• Assist in planning, promoting, and facilitating virtual events, webinars, and online workshops
• Develop accessible digital marketing materials including graphics, emails, and promotional campaigns
• Conduct outreach to community partners, stakeholders, and organizations for event participation and collaboration opportunities
• Monitor online engagement metrics and prepare basic analytics reports
• Communicate effectively with Deaf, DeafBlind, and hearing staff, consumers, and partners using both ASL and English
• Represent Vancro professionally across online, virtual, and community platforms
• Assist with administrative tasks related to communications and engagement projects (such as maintaining calendars, contact lists, event logistics, etc.)
• Stay current on best practices in digital communications, event facilitation, and community engagement
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and proficiency in written English (required)
• Strong cultural competency regarding Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing communities (required)
• A.A. degree or 2+ years of experience in digital communications, marketing, community engagement, or a related field
• Real-world experience working remotely in a professional setting
• Strong writing, content creation, and communication skills
• Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and their tools for businesses
• Experience supporting and facilitating virtual events using platforms such as Zoom, WebEx, Teams, or similar
• Basic graphic design skills (experience with Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar a plus)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred
• Familiarity with website content management systems preferred
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative, remote team environment
