Job summary

The Recording Academy is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join the Communications team. As a music-loving communications professional, you will support the full range of the department's work including media monitoring, reporting, media relations, events, thought leadership, and more.

Reporting to the Manager, Communications, you will work across all stages of the communications cycle, from messaging to activation to analysis, contributing broadly to the Academy’s communications efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or related field.
  • 1-2 years' experience in Communications or Public Relations.
  • Strong writing, research, and organizational skills.
  • Comfort working with media databases and tracking tools.
  • Excellent PowerPoint presentation skills.
  • Strong prioritization, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Adaptability with shifting priorities.
  • Self-motivation with problem solving.
  • Collaborative teamwork for on-site event operations.

Responsibilities

  • Track, compile, and distribute daily and monthly press coverage reports highlighting the Academy brand, flagging inaccuracies or noteworthy coverage as needed.
  • Maintain and update media lists, including researching new outlets and contacts.
  • Serve as first point of contact for incoming media requests, conducting initial research and routing to the appropriate team member.
  • Support corporate communications efforts, including executive talking points, brand messaging, interview briefs, thought leadership, and more.
  • Partner with team to generate press coverage for events, campaigns, and initiatives.
  • Coordinate credentialing, event logistics, and on-site operations during Grammy Week and year-round events.
  • Support review, drafting, and dissemination of press materials including press releases and media alerts.
  • Assist with scheduling and logistics for media interviews.
  • Maintain and contribute to the PR/media editorial calendar.
  • Utilize MuckRack, BusinessWire, and Marketing Cloud for press monitoring and distribution.
  • Provide support across the full communications team and special projects within Marketing & Communications.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Recording Academy is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join the Communications team. WHAT YOU'LL DO

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing or related field.
  • 1-2 years' experience in Communications or Public Relations.

  • Excellent PowerPoint presentation skills.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The starting rate for this position is $24.10 to $26.10 per hour, benchmarked against industry standards.

The actual offer extended will depend on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and the role's requirements.
