Job description

POSITION

This is a full time position (37.5 hours per week). This position allows for flexible work hours as some evening and weekend work is expected. Some portions of this position may be performed remotely, with the authorization of the Rector.

Summary

Working under the Director of Stewardship, the Communications Coordinator ensures that the parish’s efforts are communicated promptly and effectively. The Communications Coordinator works in collaboration with the parish staff to create and implement effective multi-channel content and messaging in support of the Cathedral of Christ the King’s mission of Loving God, Serving Others and Forming Disciples of Jesus Christ in His Holy Church.

Essential Duties And Major Areas Of Responsibility

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive plan to share the Cathedral’s vision for the parish bulletin, email, website and social media.
• Plan, design, edit and publish the weekly bulletin and senior ministry monthly journal.
• Design and send a parish weekly email that runs parallel to the bulletin messaging and campaign. Manage audience databases, and report on engagement metrics.
• Manage multiple communication projects, including flyers, brochures, worship aids, digital signage, infographics, and other materials, ensuring timely, high-quality support for parish initiatives and ministries.
• Partner with parish staff and ministry leaders to develop effective communications for their ministries and initiatives. Help ministry leaders identify what is most important to communicate, determine the appropriate audience and communication channel, and develop engaging content that invites parishioners to participate and connect more deeply with the life of the parish.
• Work and direct the Communications Council, monthly, in the maintenance and updating of the church website, optimize for engagement, ensure visual and brand consistency, and monitor analytics for continuous improvement.
• Develop a comprehensive social media strategy, create engaging content, build a digital volunteer team, monitor performance, and innovate based on trends on Facebook and Instagram.
• Create, edit, and manage photography and other visual content used in parish communications. Develop systems that allow ministries to contribute photos and other digital content from their own events and activities, including the possible use of shared parish communications equipment. Maintain and organize digital assets, including seasonal graphics, photographs, templates, and other visual resources.
• Establish and attend one Holy Hour in Adoration per week.

• Seek out opportunities for professional growth through webinars, conferences, books, and articles which are pertinent to the role.
• Participate in the Catholic Media Association conference.

Supervisory Responsibilities

No responsibility for any immediate supervision of employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or Canva Design necessary.
• Graphic design skills with ability to use typography to aid in your story telling when graphics are scarce.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong content creation, copywriting, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to develop compelling content for a variety of audiences and communication channels.
• Familiarity with analytics tools and ability to interpret data to inform strategies.
• Creative storyteller who can deliver successful marketing campaigns.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
• Active member of a Catholic community, fulfilling the precepts of the Catholic Church, and commitment to Catholic teachings.

Compensation

• Salary range: $42,000–$52,000 annually, based on candidate qualifications and experience.
