Communications Coordinator# Communications CoordinatorWestchester Country Day School - High Point, NC 27265## OverviewPosition TypePart Time## DescriptionWestchester Country Day School, a PK–12 independent, college preparatory school in High Point, NC, seeks a part-time Communications Coordinator to create engaging content and manage the school’s social media presence. Working closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing, this position highlights school life through writing, photography, video and graphics that inform parents, celebrate students and teachers, and strengthen connections with families, alumni and the broader community.This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys finding a story and pulling content together into a finished product that engages and connects with the audience. We are looking for an excellent writer with sound editorial judgment and attention to detail who is excited to contribute creative ideas and share stories about what makes our school community unique.# ResponsibilitiesContent Creation and Storytelling* Capture and edit multimedia content (photos, videos, audio and graphics) for use in a variety of channels.* Write social media posts, web stories and other communications that reflect the school’s mission, philosophy and brand.* Collect information and interview students and faculty for stories.* Organize, tag and maintain digital media assets.Social Media Management* Plan, create and publish content on the school’s social media channels (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).* Maintain the social media content calendar.* Monitor engagement and recommend content ideas based on performance and trends.Communications Support* Attend school events to collect photos, videos, captions and story content.* Help maintain consistent brand messaging and visual identity across communications.* Assist with email newsletters, web pages and other communications as assigned and priorities allow.* Support advancement and admissions projects and provide backup support for emergency communications when needed.# Qualifications* Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience* Experience creating publication-ready content for an organization or brand through employment, internships, or freelance work* Strong writing and proofreading skills with a solid command of grammar, AP Style, and the ability to adapt to an established brand voice* Sound editorial judgment, curiosity, and the initiative to recognize compelling stories, ask thoughtful questions, and suggest content ideas* Organizational skills and the ability to follow timelines and meet deadlines independently while contributing to the work of a collaborative team* Comfort interacting professionally with students, faculty, administrators and parents while gathering content* Appreciation for independent school education and enthusiasm for telling stories that build community* Experience using social media tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite), professional content creation software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and InDesign), and basic video editing software (e.g., iMovie or CapCut)* Working knowledge of basic project management toolsThis position is part-time, 10 months, during the school day with occasional evening or weekend events throughout the school year.
