Position Summary

Family Expectations, a healthy relationship program, is designed for couples that are currently pregnant or that have had a baby in the past three months. The program is research informed, aligned with best practices, and will be engaged in a rigorous evaluation led by some of the most respected human services researchers in the country. This position will contribute to Public Strategies mission of helping systems, organizations and individuals reach their full potential while maximizing the public good, and by building and fostering strong foundational relationships with community service providers and others committed to making a significant, measurable and sustainable difference.

Essential Job Functions
  • Greet couples and introduce self
  • Explain the objective of the coaching session is to practice the Speaker-Listener technique and the approximate length of the coaching session
  • Coach the couple in the correct use of the technique, giving equal time to both parents
  • At the end of the session:
    • Thank the couple for their work and remind them to speak to their Family Support Coaches (FSC), if additional assistance is needed with the skill they have learned
    • Complete a Communication Coach Feedback Form for each couple with whom they worked
    • Submit completed form(s) to a Family Expectations Educators (FEE)
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Education/Training
    • High School diploma or equivalent, required
    • Some college, preferred
    • Will consider 4+ years work experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience
    • Prior experience working with Oklahoma Marriage Initiative (OMI) or Family Expectations (FE), a plus
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
    • Ability to work flexible hours
    • Ability to attend Communication Coach Training
    • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
    • A passion for education and the empowerment of others through knowledge
    • Ability to travel to different locations across the state as required
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sufficient mobility and strength to move about the facility. Ability to be mobile throughout the community.
