The United States Communications Campaigner at Oil Change International (OCI) is responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies, tools, and tactics to advance the goals and activities of the United States team. This role works closely with other members of the United States team, cross-team communications staff, and key partners. Oil Change International’s United States team collaborates with national, grassroots, and frontline partners to pressure international, federal, and state-level targets to stop the expansion of fossil fuels and catalyze a fossil fuel phase-out rooted in science and justice.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Development (20%)
- Work with OCI’s United States Team to design and implement communications and media strategies supporting ongoing work and activities.
- Plan and execute strategies to support messaging around international political moments and report launches.
- Coordinate with OCI’s Communications Director and team to align goals and improve communication platforms.
- Media Outreach (20%)
- Develop and maintain press lists relevant to United States team work.
- Build relationships with reporters and pitch stories.
- Monitor media coverage and public narratives related to our work.
- Track metrics to assess impact.
- Content Creation & Dissemination (45%)
- Create compelling materials such as press releases, fact sheets, social media content, videos, etc.
- Ensure content aligns with campaign messaging and brand guidelines.
- Manage content calendars and publishing schedules.
- Use OCI platforms to send press releases, supporter emails, and social media posts.
- Prepare reactive content for timely priorities.
- Develop materials for advocacy efforts like petitions and toolkits.
- Partner Engagement (10%)
- Support regional and local partners engaged in campaigns against fossil fuel infrastructure.
- Collaborate with civil society networks to increase campaign visibility.
- Maintain relationships with partner communicators.
- Identify collaboration opportunities and provide communication support.
- Administration (5%)
- Update goals and work plans regularly.
- Participate in meetings and coordinate messaging with OCI’s communications staff.
- Maintain project calendars and respond to administrative requests promptly.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Required Skills / Experience
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- 3-5 years in advocacy related to social justice and/or energy and climate policies, with a record of developing communication strategies.
- Ability to translate technical materials into motivating content.
Desired Skills / Experience
- Existing relationships with climate and energy journalists in the U.S. and internationally.
- Experience working remotely in a global office environment.
- Collaborative skills across multicultural teams and time zones.
- Experience with social media strategies and media engagement tools.
- Proficiency with Google Apps, graphic design, and video editing tools.
- Fluent in Spanish (reading, writing, speaking).
