Job summary

The University of Kansas is seeking a Student Communications Associate to support Student Affairs with graphic design, video, and writing across print and digital media. Most work occurs in Kansas Union Suite 400, engaging students, staff, and families through visual storytelling.

You will help plan social media, capture events with photography/video, draft copy for student audiences, and edit video content for various platforms while maintaining a welcoming campus atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Must be in good academic standing.
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
• Website content management experience (Drupal/WordPress/HTML/CSS/JavaScript).
• Able to work some nights, mornings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of a social media plan for the academic year.
• Photograph, film, and capture events as requested by Student Affairs staff.
• Draft and edit communications copy for student audiences.
• Edit video content for distribution on multiple platforms.
• Promote a welcoming environment for all KU campus community members.
• Attend trainings and events as required.
• Report hours and complete timesheets as directed by the supervisor.
