The Communications and Public Relations Coordinator will assist in developing and executing strategic communications to enhance Covenant Living’s reputation, strengthen community trust, and support occupancy and growth goals. This role blends traditional Communications and PR expertise with strong journalism instincts, storytelling ability, and multimedia content development including video script writing to highlight resident experiences, staff impact, and organizational excellence across senior living communities. This position reports to the Director of Public Relations and works in close collaboration to execute strategic initiatives, and working cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and community teams to elevate brand visibility across all markets.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategic Communications Assist in development and execution of integrated Communications and PR strategies in partnership with the Director of Public Relations
  • Align messaging with organizational goals, mission, and resident-centered values
  • Identify opportunities to elevate the organization’s leadership in senior living and aging services
  • Media Relations Assist in building and maintaining relationships with local, regional, and national media, along with senior living trade publications
  • Pitch compelling human-interest stories and expert commentary
  • Draft press releases, statements, and media materials
  • Prepare and support executives for media interactions
  • Storytelling & Journalism Apply journalistic skills to uncover and tell authentic stories of residents, families, and team members
  • Conduct interviews and write feature-style articles and profiles
  • Ensure accuracy, ethics, and clarity consistent with journalism standards
  • Translate complex senior living and healthcare topics into engaging content
  • Video Content & Script Writing Write scripts for videos including resident stories, testimonials, campaigns, and internal communications
  • Collaborate with creative team on video production
  • Create video content that is compelling, impactful, and aligned with the brand’s identity
  • Content Development Create content across multiple platforms: media materials, newsletters, and talking points
  • Manage storytelling pipelines and editorial calendars
  • Integrate storytelling into broader marketing and communications campaigns
  • Crisis & Reputation Management Support crisis communication planning and execution for sensitive issues
  • Collaborate with leadership to manage reputational risks
  • Develop messaging for complex or high-impact situations
  • Internal Communications Develop communications that engage and inform employees across communities
  • Highlight employee impact and organizational culture
  • Support leadership messaging and announcements
  • Coordinate creating and distribution of internal communications in support of departments (HR, Philanthropy, etc.)
  • Campaigns & Community Engagement Execute PR campaigns for events, community milestones, and organizational initiatives
  • Partner with operations, marketing, and local teams to amplify community-level stories
  • Support community outreach and relationship-building efforts
  • Analytics & Reporting Monitor media coverage, sentiment, and performance metrics
  • Track effectiveness of campaigns, including video and storytelling initiatives
  • Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required Degree: N/A
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in PR, communications, or journalism

  • Experience: 4–7 years of experience in PR, communications, or journalism
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
  • Strong writing portfolio showcasing storytelling and/or journalistic work
  • Experience in media relations/story pitching and content development
  • Demonstrated experience writing video scripts or multimedia content
  • Excellent in journalistic interviewing, writing, and copy-editing skills
  • Experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality
  • Background in newsroom, reporting, or editorial roles
  • Experience working with executive leadership
  • Familiarity with video production and storytelling techniques
  • Understanding of HIPAA and sensitive communications considerations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office/community setting.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate various equipment base on department and weather conditions
  • Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers - typing and/or writing.
  • Clarity of Vision For near visual acuity
  • Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
  • For Far visual acuity, Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
  • This is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well.

Corporate Compensation

Pay Range: $74,742.00 - $112,112.25 per year

Reasonable Pay Estimate A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $74,742.00 - $112,112.25 per year. There are numerous factors taken into consideration in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and external equity.
