Passionate Nonprofit Leader Transforming Organizations with Purpose and Impact

Do you love storytelling, building community, and making an impact? Join Comfort Food Community (CFC) as our next Communication & Volunteer Coordinator and help us strengthen food access and build a healthier, more connected region.

About Us

Comfort Food Community is a nonprofit organization on a mission to end rural food insecurity and promote equitable access to healthy food in Washington, Warren, and Saratoga counties. We believe that nourishing food and strong community connections go hand in hand—and that’s where you come in.

About the Role

We’re looking for a creative communicator and passionate organizer to manage CFC’s messaging, storytelling, and volunteer engagement efforts. From managing social media to recruiting volunteers and supporting fundraising events, this is a dynamic role with plenty of variety and room to grow.

You’ll work closely with our Development Manager and across teams to amplify our voice, connect with our community, and keep our mission front and center—whether online, at events, or through direct outreach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and manage engaging social media content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Produce monthly e-newsletters and volunteer updates to share stories, opportunities, and impact.
  • Maintain and update our website (Wix).
  • Develop and execute an annual communications calendar, including campaigns, media outreach, and print materials.
  • Track analytics to measure success and adjust strategy.
  • Coordinate press releases, event promotion, and storytelling across all programs.
  • Recruit and onboard volunteers for a range of programs and events.
  • Promote opportunities through community partnerships, digital platforms, and local outreach.
  • Track volunteer hours and engagement.
  • Support food access and distribution efforts when needed.
  • Help organize and promote community and fundraising events.
  • Assist with donor communication, event materials, and online donation tools.
  • Represent CFC at community tabling opportunities and public events.

Who You Are

  • A strong writer and creative thinker who knows how to connect with diverse audiences.
  • A proactive, organized team player who can juggle multiple projects with ease.
  • Experienced in social media, marketing tools (Canva, Wix), and office systems (Bloomerang, Office 365, Asana).
  • Energized by working with people—volunteers, community partners, donors, and your teammates.
  • Passionate about community-based work, especially food access and food justice.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years in communications, marketing, or public relations (internships count!)
  • 1 year with event planning or volunteer coordination
  • This is a full-time, in-person position based in Greenwich, NY, with some local travel.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours are required for events.
  • Pay range is $21-23/hour with benefits.
