Job summary

Hive Group in McLean, VA is seeking a highly analytical Communications Specialist to lead the development and execution of communications initiatives that drive awareness of GSA acquisition programs and save taxpayer dollars. You will partner with program leadership and contracting officers to craft messaging and visuals that demonstrate program value across federal agencies.

You will design targeted campaigns for federal buyer personas, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure compliance

Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years in marketing, outreach, communications, or acquisition program support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field.
  • Ability to pass a federal background check and obtain a GSA Public Trust credential.
  • Proficiency writing for GovCon audiences with branding guidance.
  • Strong Google Workspace skills, especially Slides and Docs.
  • Solid understanding of FAR and federal procurement processes.
  • Experience engaging with federal stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Experience in outreach strategies, events, and digital campaigns in government.
  • Proven ability to create visual assets and tell stories with produced content.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and multi-project management capability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication and marketing strategies to raise awareness of GSA & AAS programs.
  • Create clear, accessible content educating federal buyers and industry on acquisition paths.
  • Design visuals for digital media, slide decks, flyers, and branded communications.
  • Tell compelling stories highlighting GSA values, mission, and customer successes.
  • Align outreach with agency priorities to improve procurement efficiency.
  • Design campaigns targeted to federal buyer personas and lifecycle stages.
  • Identify growth opportunities via market research and agency engagement.
  • Contribute to MSRs and quarterly reports with metrics and milestones.
  • Serve as liaison between GSA programs and external stakeholders to drive adoption.
  • Support meetings, Town Halls, pipeline calls, and IPC meetings.
  • Facilitate strategic discussions and executive engagements to communicate value.
  • Represent GSA programs at conferences and interagency forums.
  • Ensure communications comply with GSA voice, branding, and 508 compliance.
  • Establish performance metrics and reporting frameworks for outreach impact.
  • Collaborate with contracting, program management, and policy teams on messaging.
  • Support internal training and enablement to improve understanding of offerings.
  • Participate in strategic planning and program development initiatives.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical Communications Specialist to deliver complex work with a high degree of independence while strengthening delivery quality, coordination, and reliability within the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of communications initiatives that drive awareness and utilization of acquisition solutions across federal agencies. You will secure the business base through excellent delivery and client interaction, working closely with stakeholders to develop messaging that demonstrates how GSA initiatives—from sustainable building to IT acquisition—save taxpayer dollars. By partnering with program leadership and contracting officers to enhance government-wide acquisition outcomes, you will support organic growth and new business opportunities. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your strategic communication skills in a fast‑paced environment where your individual contributions have a direct impact on national operations and the expansion of our federal mission.

This is a HYBRID position with on‑site, in office requirements at our Hive Group Headquarters in McLean, VA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute communication and marketing strategies to increase awareness and utilization of GSA & AAS acquisition programs and contract vehicles.
  • Create clear, accessible content to educate federal buyers and industry on acquisition pathways and program benefits.
  • Design compelling visuals for digital media, such as slide decks, flyers, and branded internal and external communications.
  • Serve as a storyteller, collaborating with stakeholders to identify, curate, and produce compelling stories that highlight GSA values, mission, and customer successes,
  • Align outreach initiatives with agency priorities to support government‑wide procurement efficiency and mission delivery.
  • Support program adoption by designing targeted campaigns aligned to federal buyer personas and acquisition life cycles.
  • Identify growth opportunities through market research, agency engagement, and industry collaboration.
  • Provide input for Monthly Status Reports (MSRs) and quarterly deliverable detailing marketing strategy, metrics and project milestones to satisfy contract requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between GSA programs and external stakeholders to drive adoption and engagement.
  • Support internal and external meetings, including Town Halls, pipeline calls, and IPC meetings.
  • Facilitate strategic discussions, briefings, and executive engagements to communicate program value and capabilities.
  • Represent GSA programs at conferences, interagency forums, and industry events to strengthen visibility and partnerships.
  • Ensure all communications align with GSA voice and organizational values and meet federal standards, including ADA Section 508 compliance.
  • Establish performance metrics and reporting frameworks to measure outreach effectiveness and program impact.
  • Partner with contracting, program management, and policy teams to align messaging with acquisition regulations and priorities.
  • Support internal training and enablement initiatives to improve stakeholder understanding of GSA offerings.
  • Contribute to strategic planning efforts and program development initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in marketing, outreach, communications, and/or acquisition program support.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field.
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check and obtain a GSA Public Trust credential.
  • Proficiency in writing for a GovCon audience, focusing on clarity, professional tone, and adherence to GSA‑specific branding guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, with higher‑level knowledge of Google Slides and Google Docs
  • Strong understanding of federal procurement processes and regulations, including FAR.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with federal stakeholders and industry partners at multiple levels.
  • Experience developing and executing outreach strategies, events, and digital campaigns in a government environment.
  • Progressive experience in creating visual assets and storytelling with a portfolio of produced content.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated compensation range for this position is between $130,000 and $135,000 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate. At Hive Group, salary decisions are influenced by several factors, including but not limited to the role, location, and the combination of education, training, skills, certifications, competencies, and relevant work experience.
