The District of Columbia Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV), External Affairs Division, seeks a Communications Assistant to develop visuals and manage social media to support agency messaging and public information campaigns.

This position is located in the District of Columbia Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV), within the External Affairs Division. DFHV is responsible for regulating the for-hire vehicle industry and ensuring safe, reliable, and accessible transportation options forresidents and visitors of the District of Columbia. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Communication Assistant, supporting the development of visual communication materials and the creation and management of social media content. The incumbent contributes to DFHV’s efforts to strengthen public engagement, enhance transparency, and promote DFHV programs, policies, and initiatives.
Develops graphics, visual materials, and digital assets such as flyers, infographics, presentations, and multimedia elements to support agency messaging and public information campaigns. Assists with documenting agency events through photography or videography and ensures that all communication materials adhere to DFHV branding standards. Supports drafting, scheduling, and managing social media content; monitors online engagement; and identifies opportunities to enhance digital communication outreach.
Serves as backup to the Public Affairs Specialist by updating DFHV website content to ensure information is accurate and timely. Coordinates with internal divisions to gather programmatic or technical information and translate complex material into clear, accessible content for public audiences. Provides administrative and logistical support for communication activities, public information efforts, and related projects.

To be creditable, the incumbent must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
