Job Posting: 1-on-1 Communication Aide for ACAP Member

Are you a reliable, compassionate, and friendly individual looking to make a meaningful impact? Support Broker Services, LLC is seeking a dedicated Communication Aide to assist an adult male in his mid-30s with disabilities as part of the Adaptive Community Approach Program (ACAP). If you’re ready to make a difference in someone's life, we want to hear from you!

Key Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable, insured automobile.
  • Ability to pass a caregiver background check.
  • Commitment to protecting all confidential information pertaining to the client.
  • Above-average communication and listening skills, especially when collaborating with ACAP staff and the member's circle of support.
  • Availability to attend a minimum of one Thursday morning from 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM each month for RPM training with the member.
  • Prior supportive home care experience is preferred, but we are willing to train enthusiastic candidates.

Communication & Learning:
  • The member utilizes the Rapid Prompting Method (RPM) for communication.
  • You will receive training to effectively facilitate this method, with sessions held every Thursday morning from 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM in Waukesha.
  • You will also learn to work through the Relationship Development Intervention (RDI).

Job Duties:
  • Adhere to ACAP’s guidelines for one-on-one member support.
  • Assist the ACAP member during programming and social opportunities with empathy, patience, and care for their social, emotional, mental health, and communication needs during ACAP hours (9 AM – 3 PM).
  • Support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including lunch, following directions, completing requested tasks, and helping connect with friends during lunch.
  • Document goals and submit reports monthly to the member’s case manager.

Scheduling and Compensation:
  • Work hours are available from 9 AM to 3:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays at ACAP. While it’s not mandatory to work all days, consistent attendance on the days you commit to is crucial for success.
  • Employees will be required to clock in and out using an electronic application that can be downloaded on a smartphone.
