Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a Commodity Sourcing Leader to drive strategy, supplier management, and cost reduction across the site/P&L. You will partner with global leaders to optimize procurement, negotiate contracts, and align with finance, quality, and engineering.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of sourcing or related experience, with MBA and CPM/APICS and Six Sigma valued. This is a remote position with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial experience in Sourcing, Sales, Commercial Operations, Engineering, and/or Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sourcing strategy for the site/P&L to achieve cost productivity, cash flow, and controllership goals.
  • Lead/Support global supplier selection, qualification, development, and supplier management, including contracts lifecycle from RFQ to exit.
  • Coordinate with engineering on program schedules, cost optimization, and resource allocation; maximize value capture per initiative.
  • Minimize GE risk exposure by coordinating with Projects, Contracts, Engineering to ensure flow-downs to suppliers.

Job Description Summary

The Commodity Sourcing Leader will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in long¬ term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with Global commodity leader to help develop sourcing strategy for the assigned site/P&L to achieve variable cost productivity, cash flow, and controllership goals
  • Lead/Support the global supplier selection, qualification, development, and overall supplier management, including managing the entire contract life cycle from Request for Proposal to supplier exit
  • Work across Sourcing teams to evaluate and manage pivot-to-value (P2V) initiatives and coordinate with engineering team on key program schedules, cost optimization, resource allocation analysis and maximize VCP of each initiative.
  • Minimize GE risk exposure, by working closely with Projects and Contracts (Commercial, Legal, Commodity Sourcing, Engineering) teams to ensure customer flow downs are pass-through to suppliers.
  • Balance strategy development with the tactical execution necessary to execute cost reduction projects through contract negotiation, process changes, and implementation of sustainable cost controls, including collaboration with Finance to validate the impact of projects and contract negotiations to the general ledger
  • Develop technical and market expertise in global commodity area
  • Create and enforce business policies to meet business targets and customer needs, including improving procurement processes and optimizing Sourcing resources to enhance the customer experience with Sourcing
  • Team with engineering teams to identify and implement direct material productivity ideas to minimize total cost
  • Work closely with engineering, buyers and sourcing quality engineers to ensure fulfillment and quality requirements are achieved
  • Team with logistics and commercial teams to ensure adequate regional capacities exist to minimize transportation costs and meet localization requirements
  • Aligning closely with global commodity leaders to identify and assess supplier capabilities, and measure and manage supplier performance
  • Negotiate lowest possible cost while maintaining the highest quality of goods and services
  • Interface with other GE business sourcing teams and participate in companywide strategic sourcing initiatives

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial experience in Sourcing, Sales, Commercial Operations, Engineering, and/or Supply Chain

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or Engineering; Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA)
  • Prior leadership program experience, such as OMLP, FMP, CAS
  • Prior sourcing experience in negotiating, identifying opportunities, selecting suppliers, sourcing strategy, and implementing contracts
  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills Change agent with ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Process leadership experience such as CAP, WorkOut, process improvement, or quality
  • CPM or APICS certification
  • Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
