Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Commodity Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and executing Category/procurement strategies for commodities and specialized materials in support of a worldwide life sciences manufacturer.

This position manages supplier relationships and internal stakeholders as part of the sourcing team. Responsibilities include developing, socializing, and executing commodity strategies, leading supplier selection, negotiating and executing purchase contracts, and monitoring compliance and global processes. The Commodity Manager will collaborate with site technical experts to introduce new Waters products with high quality at the lowest landed cost, ensuring capacity, on-time delivery, and continuous improvement. This is a hybrid role with three days on-site.

Responsibilities
  1. Create, socialize, and execute category strategies, develop the supply base to improve performance (cost, quality, delivery), and ensure capacity to support business demand.
  2. Work closely with site Buyers on compliance with systems, tools, and supply chain processes.
  3. Manage supplier relationships, cost reduction opportunities, and ensure production and capacity requirements.
  4. Identify VAVE opportunities with suppliers.
  5. Negotiate with suppliers and stakeholders; resolve problems and disputes; develop win/win solutions.
  6. Assess risks and opportunities in global sourcing, including tariffs and exchange rates.
  7. Develop relationships within the Supply Chain Management organization through mentoring and training.
  8. Utilize analytical and technical skills to understand business practices and automation opportunities.
  9. Lead complex contract negotiations.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, or related field.
  2. Familiarity with MRP, SAP, JIT, lean manufacturing, and kanban.
  3. Knowledge of manufacturing and operations.
  4. Strong negotiation skills.
  5. Understanding of key financial metrics.
  6. Ability to interpret blueprints.
  7. Experience in manufacturing within regulated environments.
  8. Excellent communication skills.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  10. Minimum five years of experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
