Job summary

Metric, a growing global macro hedge fund, is seeking a Commodities Middle Office professional focused on North American natural gas and power markets. You will support gas and power trading desks across the trade lifecycle, ensuring accurate trade capture, position monitoring, and risk reporting.

You will work closely with Front Office, Risk, Finance, and Technology to strengthen controls, automate workflows, and contribute to scalable middle-office infrastructure as the commodities business

Qualifications

• Experience in commodities middle office or trading operations.
• Strong understanding of North American natural gas and power markets.
• Familiarity with trade lifecycle, position reconciliations, P&L validation and risk reporting.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with SQL, Python, VBA or commodities trading/risk systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day middle-office support to gas and power trading desks, ensuring trades are accurately captured, validated and processed.
• Monitor daily positions, exposures and P&L across natural gas and power portfolios, investigating discrepancies and escalating issues.
• Oversee trade lifecycle activity, including confirmations, settlements, invoicing and contract amendments.
• Reconcile trading system records against brokers, exchanges, clearing brokers and external counterparties.
• Support daily risk reporting, position validation and end-of-day controls in partnership with traders and risk teams.
• Monitor physical and financial contract activity, including futures, options and swaps.
• Investigate trade breaks, valuation differences and operational exceptions, ensuring timely resolution.
