Job summary

Moss & Associates LLC is hiring a Commissioning Technician based in the United States to support the startup and delivery of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects. The role entails performing testing and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring safe and efficient project energization.

The ideal candidate will have experience with electrical commissioning, troubleshooting, and be willing to travel extensively. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Commissioning Director.

POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss Energy is seeking a Commissioning Technician to support the startup and delivery of utility‑scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient project energization by executing commissioning activities across electrical systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform testing and commissioning of medium‑ and low‑voltage electrical systems, including inverters and power distribution equipment.
• Execute NETA‑based testing (Megger insulation resistance, VOC testing, VLF, TTR) to validate system performance and integrity.
• Support system startup, energization, and troubleshooting of AC and DC components on solar and BESS projects.
• Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one‑line diagrams to verify installation and resolve field issues.
• Coordinate with construction and SCADA teams to ensure proper system integration and communication.
• Document commissioning activities, test results, and turnover packages in accordance with project and industry standards.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, electrical codes, and site requirements.
• Implement, control, and execute energy isolation procedures (LOTO).

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• Experience commissioning electrical systems in solar, BESS, or utility/industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical testing methods and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and control logic.
• Hands‑on troubleshooting and field execution experience.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
