Job summary

Evapco seeks a Technician for large-scale industrial cooling towers and dry coolers. You will be a hands-on specialist for electrical systems, controls, and system integration to ensure installations meet design intent, manufacturer specs, and client requirements.

You will support onsite commissioning, perform functional tests, verify electrical installations, and produce detailed test reports. Frequent travel to job sites and collaboration with customers are required to ensure safe, compliant

Qualifications

  • Electrical background including wiring, motor controls, and control panels.
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heaters, and VFDs.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and mechanical plans.
  • Understanding of on-site safety assessments (e.g., JHA, AHA).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Verify vendor startup documentation and commissioning records are complete and accurate.
  • Support turnover documentation and client training.

Job description

Basic Purpose of the Position:

Technician for large-scale industrial cooling towers and dry coolers, serving as a hands-on specialist of electrical systems, controls, and system integration. Ensure that all equipment and systems are installed, tested, and verified to operate in accordance with design intent, manufacturer specifications, and client requirements.

Major Areas of Responsibility:
  • Support onsite commissioning, including pre-functional inspections, functional performance testing, and system validation.
  • Execute commissioning plans, schedules, aligned with project milestones.
  • Verify electrical installations on equipment including but not limited to motors, VFDs, heaters, control panels, sensors, and safety devices.
  • Perform or oversee electrical testing such as continuity checks, insulation resistance, voltage verification, and amp draw measurements.
  • Confirm systems operate to design intent, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Produce clear and detailed commissioning reports and test results.
  • Verify vendor startup documentation and commissioning records are complete and accurate.
  • Support turnover documentation and assist with client training where required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Electrical background, including basic wiring, motor controls, and control panels.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and mechanical plans.
  • Understanding of on-site safety assessments, such as but not limited to Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Journeyman Electrician license, Electrical Engineering degree, or equivalent experience,
  • Experience working with live systems in active construction or operational environments.
  • Experience commissioning heat rejection systems in data centers, industrial plants, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and controls integration.
  • Commissioning certifications (CxT, CCP, or similar) are a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

The position is based in Taneytown, MD and works closely with all Evapco facilities and corporate teams. Must be willing to travel domestically >50% of the time. Work environments will consist of developing job sites exposed to the elements and active construction equipment as well as active industrial environments.

Pay Range:

$64,896.00 - $80,870.40 per year
