Job summary

• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, life-safety, and utility systems and the prerequisites required to move equipment from construction complete through startup and functional testing.
• Experience developing and managing startup schedules, system-based sequencing plans, look-ahead schedules, constraint logs, and daily work priorities.
• Experience coordinating owners, general contractors, subcontractors, OFCI vendors, engineers of record, operations teams, and independent commissioning agents.
• Ability to interpret equipment submittals, startup procedures, vendor requirements, test documentation, system boundaries, drawings, specifications, and turnover packages.
• Proven ability to lead field meetings, drive issue closure, communicate risk clearly, and maintain accurate documentation in a fast-paced project environment.
• Strong mentoring and team‑leadership skills with a practical, field-focused approach to safe and orderly startup execution.

Position Summary

Weeks Group is seeking an experienced MEP / Project Manager to support quality assurance and quality control activities on large-scale, mission-critical data center projects.

The MEP / PM will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, QA/QC leadership, trade partners, commissioning teams, and client representatives to ensure that mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are installed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, and quality standards.

This is a field-oriented position requiring someone who can operate effectively in an active construction environment, identify issues before they become problems, maintain accurate documentation, and work collaboratively with multiple contractors and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has data center or other mission-critical construction experience and understands the complexity of coordinating MEP systems within highly controlled environments.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Startup and CX Specialist

The Equipment Startup and CX Specialist leads field readiness, startup coordination, commissioning sequencing, issue resolution, and turnover support for project equipment and systems. The role works closely with client, OFCI vendors, subcontractors, engineers of record, and AWS third-party commissioning agents to keep energization, startup, testing, and closeout activities aligned with the project schedule.

• Review customer's overall equipment startup and commissioning plan and recommend practical field-execution improvements.
• Conduct daily site walks of active construction areas to verify equipment construction-complete status and readiness for startup and commissioning activities.
• Monitor site conditions, prerequisite work, milestone dates, and inspection or test readiness against the project startup and commissioning schedule.
• Identify constraints and potential roadblocks, coordinate mitigation plans, and promptly escape serious schedule, safety, access, vendor, or technical risks.
• Implement Weeks Group commissioning scheduling protocols, including sequencing, look-ahead planning, daily priorities, and required deliverables.
• Facilitate daily morning commissioning meetings for the client's project team and document decisions, assignments, constraints, and required follow-up.
• Support implementation of the site-specific energization plan, including prerequisite verification, stakeholder coordination, and sequencing of safe energization activities.
• Coordinate OFCI vendors and subcontractors during equipment delivery, installation, pre-startup checks, vendor startup, functional testing, and turnover.
• Coordinate with AWS third-party commissioning agents and support timely completion of commissioning activities, observations, documentation, and issue resolution.
• Ensure the client's startup and commissioning team collects, organizes, reviews, and submits required equipment documentation to the engineers of record and commissioning agent.
• Maintain visibility of open equipment issues, responsible parties, target dates, dependencies, and closure status.
• Mentor client's startup and commissioning supervisors, field teams, vendors, and subcontractors on effective commissioning practices and execution discipline.
