The Role

  • Act as the Commissioning Project Manager overseeing both Mechanical and Electrical systems, including cooling/heating systems, power distribution, fire protection, BMS, and emergency backup systems in a variety of mission-critical environments.
  • Lead commissioning projects from pre-design through turnover, ensuring quality assurance and coordination across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Manage project plans, review and develop specifications, schedules, and execute commissioning activities to support large-scale facility and data center projects.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of design criteria, equipment submittals, drawings, and documentation relevant to mechanical and electrical commissioning.
  • Implement rigorous quality control processes to validate system functionality and ensure compliance with client requirements.
  • Gather and organize documentation, drawings, and technical data from stakeholders including clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Develop comprehensive site-specific commissioning plans and strategies tailored to each project.
  • Author and review factory witness testing protocols for major mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate and lead commissioning meetings, managing stakeholder communication and ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Develop and administer integrated functional testing procedures for mechanical and electrical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC, plumbing, fire alarm, and controls systems.
  • Maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and testing records; produce comprehensive final commissioning reports.
  • Manage external consultants or contractors as needed; oversee and coordinate commissioning meetings, and participate in construction coordination meetings as required.
  • Deliver regular progress reports and detailed commissioning meeting summaries to project and facility managers.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military or industry training with 5+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical commissioning, project management, construction management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in Data Center/Mission Critical environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and commission both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working with general contractors and subcontractors, with strong communication and coordination skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and best practices across both MEP disciplines.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and documentation skills essential for managing complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
