Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Virginia (Herndon) seeks a Commissioning Project Engineer to support data center capacity delivery by auditing milestones, calibrating systems, and leading commissioning execution for new builds and CIP projects.

You will work with cross-functional teams, manage project creation in internal systems, handle admin tasks, assist with RFQ documentation, and ensure on-time vendor deliverables under the lead CxE.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or 1+ years of relevant discipline work experience.
  • 1+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Qualified trades personnel Mechanical, Electrical or relevant discipline.

  • Manage the creation of projects within internal Amazon systems.
  • Manage the administrative task related to the commissioning process.
  • Support the Request for Quote process, ensuring all relevant documentation is available for the commissioning vendors to provide a detailed quote.
  • Manage the required vendor project deliverables ensuring on time delivery for the CxE's review.
  • Manage project resourcing ensuring all vendors comply with the Leads Qualification Process (LQP).
  • Create and manage the approval of the Change Management requests for the commissioning activities of the assigned project.

Description

A Commissioning Project Engineer (CxPE) supports the delivery of data center capacity through managing project milestone auditing, calibration, and commissioning execution for new construction and Capital Improvement Projects (CIPP).

Key job responsibilities

The key responsibility of a Project Engineer is to develop a detailed understanding of AWS critical infrastructure. You will learn the fundamentals related to managing a commissioning project within AWS. As part of this process you will work with different team members who will introduce you to the internal project management tools. You will then progress to the on the job phase where you will participate in the on-site commissioning activities. During the phase of you will support the Lead Commissioning Engineers (CxE) with managing a project from beginning to end.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or 1+ years of relevant discipline work experience
  • 1+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Qualified trades personnel Mechanical, Electrical or relevant discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in vendor negotiation and management for data center or upgrade construction contracts, or experience in requirement gathering and ability to write clear and detailed requirement document
  • Experience with scheduling post vendors and creating delivery schedules from the beginning to end of production cycles
  • Manage the creation of projects within internal Amazon systems and administrative tasks related to the Cx process
  • Manage project resourcing ensuring all vendors comply with the Leads Qualification Process (LQP).
  • Create and manage the approval of the Change Management requests for the commissioning activities of the assigned project.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
