Job summary

FST Technical Services Commissioning (Cx) division seeks a commissioning project engineer responsible for delivery and execution of professional services for equipment in mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems.

You will perform in-field installation validation, functional testing, on-site and factory witness testing, and travel within the region while mentoring team members and maintaining strong client relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HVACR, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related).
• Experience: 5+ years in maintenance/construction/engineering controls or 1+ year in Cx.
• Strong knowledge of building systems and field execution.

Responsibilities

• Completing office assignments and time/expense management.
• Perform in-field installation validation and field observation reports.
• Conduct functional performance testing and on-site/ factory witness testing.

FST Technical Services Commissioning (Cx) division is one of the leading Cx firms in the country. We partner with clients for quality assurance in the design, construction, and post-acceptance phases of building projects. We ensure that equipment in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and associated systems are designed, installed, and functionally tested to meet the clients requirements and design intent.

About the Role

A commissioning project engineer reports to a team leader and is responsible for the delivery and execution of our professional services tasks for equipment in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and associated systems.

Responsibilities

• Completing office assignments, Time and expense management
• In-field installation validation and Field observation reports
• Functional performance testing
• Meeting attendance and documentation
• On-site and factory witness testing
• Executing target billable hours
• Managing tasks within time budgeted
• Leading cx meetings
• Assisting the construction team with identifying/solving technical issues when they arise
• Maintaining positive relations with existing clients on assigned projects
• Supporting the team leader in coordinating with other project engineers and senior project engineers regarding weekly staff scheduling
• Training/mentoring team members on proper documentation, field procedures, and equipment usage
• Participating in the company-wide safety and training programs
• Traveling to and from various job sites within the assigned region

Qualifications

• Completed a Bachelors Degree in HVACR, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, construction management or an associates degree in engineering technology or related trade school, construction, maintenance, or engineering controls experience

Required Skills

• 5+ years employment in a staff or intern position related to maintenance, construction, or engineering controls or 1+ years in the Cx industry
• 3+ years of experience managing the interconnectivity of building equipment including pumps, fans, motors, air ventilation, chillers, boilers, steam distribution, heat absorption, building automation systems, optimization techniques, electrical distribution, and fire alarm systems.
• Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, bid process, and ancillary industry documents
• Aptitude to solve problems independently and in a team environment
• Affective verbal and written communication skills
• Public speaking and presentation skills
