Job description

Genesys Engineering, P.C., a subsidiary of Willdan is seeking a talented individual to fill the role Commissioning Project Engineer. Our core services are building commissioning, retro-commissioning, engineering and environmental sustainability. Our team of dedicated professionals provides a multitude of consulting services to clients in higher education, state agencies, and private institutions to promote reliable equipment operations, environmental sustainability and reduced energy consumption. We hold several term contracts with New York State Agencies, and we have extensive experience providing commissioning services for projects seeking LEED certification. We have an exciting opportunity for the right individual. The position will be associated with our Kingston, NY office but the responsibilities will be primarily associated with the NYC, Westchester and Hudson Valley region. Willdan has several offices located in these areas and the actual office location would be flexible based on the individual. We are looking for someone with exceptional communication skills, ability to handle multiple projects at the same time, work independently and can travel within the tri-state area. This individual will have a bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and/or equivalent experience to provide the services required for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will include performing field equipment inspections and testing.
  • Project team interaction and advocacy - internal and external.
  • Commissioning documentation development.
  • Inspection and testing procedures development.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor as business needs dictate.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Formalized training or education related to HVAC or an applicable engineering discipline with a minimum of two years' experience in a technical or building operations related field.
  • Professional certifications such as LEED, ACP, CCP (BCxA) and CBCP (AEE) are desired, but not required.
  • Experience managing multiple tasks across multiple projects.
  • Willingness to adhere to and utilize internal protocols and systems.
  • Good interpersonal relations with staff and client communications. Friendly, helpful and positive attitude. Ability to take direction from supervisor and other senior staff.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to write and speak clearly about the status of tasks and articulate questions.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of and interest to learn HVAC equipment and mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, hot water loops, burner, boilers, and building management systems.
  • Knowledge of software tools, such as, spreadsheets, project management programs, and word processing.
  • Support business process improvement efforts.
  • Support Project Managers and Team Leads on ad-hoc requests for support.
  • Willing and able to travel throughout New York State and the adjoining tri-state area.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and provide deliverables in a timely manner.
