Job summary

Daksta | Connecting Mission Critical Talent is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning activities across complex projects in the United States, including data centers, power, and manufacturing facilities.

You will manage planning, testing (FT/IST), and handover, supervise commissioning teams, and coordinate with owners, vendors, and design teams, with travel about 50% nationwide to project sites, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of commissioning experience with leadership or PM responsibilities.
  • Experience leading commissioning on large-scale industrial, commercial, or mission-critical projects.
  • Hands-on with Functional Testing (FT) and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
  • Strong background in MEP systems (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing).
  • Experience in Data Centers, Power Generation, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, or Water & Wastewater industries.
  • Willingness to travel ~50% nationwide; valid driver's license and U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning activities from planning through final turnover.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, and documentation.
  • Mentor and lead Commissioning Engineers and field teams.
  • Coordinate with owners, contractors, consultants, design teams and vendors.
  • Oversee FT and IST to verify system performance and readiness.
  • Ensure systems are commissioned per project specs and safety standards.
  • Review documentation, test scripts, logs, and turnover packages.
  • Manage risks, schedules, and issue resolution to meet milestones.
  • Lead commissioning meetings and provide progress updates.

Role Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead the successful delivery of commissioning activities across complex projects throughout the United States. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a growing organization delivering projects within power generation, life sciences, manufacturing, water treatment, and mission-critical data centers.

As the Commissioning Manager, you will oversee the planning, coordination, execution, and completion of commissioning activities from pre-functional testing through integrated systems testing and final client handover. You will lead commissioning teams, coordinate with project stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

This role requires approximately 50% travel to project sites across the United States.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle, from planning through final turnover.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, and documentation.
  • Manage and mentor Commissioning Engineers and field commissioning teams.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with owners, contractors, consultants, design teams, and vendors.
  • Oversee Functional Testing (FT) and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) to verify system performance and operational readiness.
  • Ensure mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), controls, and integrated building systems are commissioned in accordance with project specifications.
  • Review commissioning documentation, test scripts, deficiency logs, and turnover packages.
  • Manage project risks, commissioning schedules, and issue resolution to maintain project milestones.
  • Lead commissioning meetings and provide regular progress updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and health and safety regulations.
  • Support business development efforts by assisting with proposals, client presentations, and commissioning strategies when required.
  • Foster strong client relationships through exceptional communication and project delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of commissioning experience, including leadership or project management responsibilities.
  • Proven experience leading commissioning activities on large-scale industrial, commercial, or mission-critical projects.
  • Hands-on experience managing Functional Testing (FT) and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
  • Strong background commissioning MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems.
  • Experience within one or more of the following industries:
  • Data Centers
  • Power Generation
  • Life Sciences
  • Manufacturing
  • Water & Wastewater
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, controls, and integrated building systems.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients throughout the commissioning process.
  • Ability to review construction documents, electrical schematics, P&IDs, sequences of operation, and commissioning specifications.
  • Experience with commissioning management software; CXAlloy experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% throughout the United States.
  • Valid driver's license and authorization to work in the United States.
