Job summary

Megawatt Construction, Inc. is seeking a Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning execution on large, complex tenant colocation data hall fit-out projects.

You will own planning, testing, and turnover, coordinating with clients, vendors, and third‑party agents to deliver high‑quality outcomes while mitigating risk. The role requires strong leadership and hands‑on experience with MEP systems and data center environments, with a focus on schedule integrity and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5-10+ years of experience in commissioning, QA/QC, MEP systems, or mission-critical construction environments.
  • Experience leading commissioning efforts on complex or high-visibility projects, preferably within data centers or similar critical infrastructure.
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, including testing and integrated systems validation.

Job description

The Commissioning Manager is responsible for leading commissioning execution on large, complex, or high-risk tenant colocation data hall fit-out projects for Megawatt Construction. This role serves as the primary point of ownership for commissioning activities, ensuring successful planning, coordination, testing, and turnover of mission-critical systems. The Commissioning Manager partners closely with project teams, clients, vendors, and third-party commissioning agents to deliver high-quality outcomes while mitigating risk and maintaining schedule integrity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Serve as the primary commissioning lead for assigned projects, owning execution from planning through final turnover.
  • Manage commissioning planning efforts, including readiness assessments, systemization, and turnover strategies.
  • Coordinate and lead commissioning activities, including system testing, integrated systems testing, and final validation.
  • Facilitate meetings with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and third-party commissioning agents (CxA).
  • Identify and proactively mitigate risks related to testing, schedule, system readiness, and turnover.
  • Drive completion of all commissioning deliverables, including documentation, reports, and deficiency tracking.
  • Oversee and manage deficiency resolution to ensure systems meet performance and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Field Operations, and QA/QC teams to align commissioning with overall project execution.
  • Mentor and support the development of Commissioning Coordinators and Engineers as the team scales.
  • Operate independently with minimal oversight while maintaining alignment with company standards and expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and Megawatt Construction commissioning protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5-10+ years of experience in commissioning, QA/QC, MEP systems, or mission-critical construction environments.
  • Experience leading commissioning efforts on complex or high-visibility projects, preferably within data centers or similar critical infrastructure.
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, including testing and integrated systems validation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
