Job Title: Commissioning (Cx) Manager – Data Center
Location: Reno, NV

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commissioning (Cx) Manager to lead commissioning activities for a mission-critical data center project located in Reno, Nevada. This is a 1099 contract position, requiring full-time, on-site presence. The successful candidate will oversee the commissioning of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems—ensuring they are installed, tested, and fully operational according to design intent and performance requirements.
Travel Home Option: Candidates will have the option to travel home every other weekend, with travel logistics arranged accordingly.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead development and execution of the commissioning plan and schedule for critical MEP systems and data center infrastructure.
Coordinate commissioning activities across design, construction, and operations teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
Manage third-party commissioning agents, OEM vendors, and contractors during all phases of functional performance testing.
Review and approve commissioning scripts, testing procedures, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) protocols.
Oversee pre-functional and functional testing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, and BMS systems.
Track and resolve commissioning issues, punch list items, and performance deficiencies in a timely manner.
Conduct field inspections and lead commissioning meetings to ensure adherence to specifications, timelines, and quality expectations.
Facilitate system turnover, including O&M documentation, redlines, and training material handover to the operations team.
Maintain a strong focus on safety compliance and quality control throughout all commissioning phases.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline .
7+ years of experience in commissioning or construction management, including 3+ years in data centers or mission-critical environments.
Deep understanding of MEP systems: HVAC, UPS, electrical distribution, generators, CRAC/CRAH, BMS, and fire/life safety systems.
Familiarity with industry standards and codes: ASHRAE, NEBB, AABC, BCA, NFPA, and local building codes.
Strong knowledge of redundancy strategies (N, N+1, 2N) and IST processes.
Proficiency in reading design documents, technical drawings, and specifications.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and commissioning management tools.
Qualifications:
PE license, CxA, or other commissioning certifications.
Prior experience with hyperscale or enterprise data center projects.
Familiarity with LEED standards and sustainable building practices.
Location Requirement: Must be willing to work on-site in Reno, NV full-time.
Work Arrangement: 1099 Contractor, with bi-weekly home travel option available.
