Job summary

Hoffman Construction Co of America seeks an onsite Commissioning Construction Manager for a Childress, TX project to lead commissioning quality control, coordinate with design teams, clients, and subcontractors, and drive startup activities to ensure safe, complete operation of all systems.

The role requires five years of commercial construction experience, a relevant degree, and strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience required.
• Education background in materials and methods of construction.
• A minimum of five (5) years of commercial construction experience required.
• Specific experience in industrial and/or hi-tech semiconductor manufacturing projects is preferred.
• LEED Accredited Professional, or the ability to become accredited within eighteen (18) months preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist project management team in keeping subcontractor's startup dates on schedule.
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of all systems requirements to perform startups and plan predecessors/successors.
• Implement and manage the QA/QC Program and approve subcontractor QA/QC Programs.
• Schedule and coordinate QC Specialists.
• Perform onsite inspections including UG Utilities.
• Conduct QA/QC Meetings.
• Ensure all subcontractors follow their QA/QC Plans.
• Organize and facilitate training of Owner's personnel in operations and maintenance of all systems.
• Run startup meetings involving multiple stakeholders to coordinate MEP startups.
• Interface between trade Managers and subcontractors to coordinate mechanical/electrical startups.

Job description

The Commissioning Construction Manager willLead our commissioning quality control efforts onsite byassistcontractors with startup preparation, including reviewing startup schedules, review any impact that other contractors may have on startup. The Manager will collaborate with design professionals, clients, subcontractors and craftspeople to address complex commissioning coordination issues; this position is on the front line in avoiding and solving technical problems on our projects. This position will be fully onsite at the project in Childress, TX.

Salary Range: $98,000.00 - $160,000.00 DOE + 12% geo-uplift, per diem & incentives

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assist project management team in keeping subcontractor's startup dates on schedule
• Individual will demonstrate thorough understanding of all systems requirements to perform startups. including what predecessors have to be done prior to startups. What successors are ready to facilitate startup and allow for the performance operation of a particular system(s).
• Implement and manage the QA/QC Program, review and approve subcontractor QA/QC Programs to ensure alignment with GC Program
• Schedule and coordinate QC Specialists
• Perform onsite inspections including UG Utilities
• Conduct QA/QC Meetings
• Ensure all subcontractors are following their approved QA/QC Plans
• Perform onsite inspections of delivered Owner Furnished Equipment
• Preconstruction document review, commissioning and punch list.
• Will participate in scheduling meetings to ensure startups are on schedule, if not on schedule will assist the construction managers in reworking schedule to an achievable startup date.
• Will be responsible to ensure system is ready to operate in a safe manner, ensure all safety precautions are in place prior to any system being operated.
• Individual must have sufficient skills and knowledge to understand that the contractor has performed all aspects of the startup.
• Coordinating work with Mechanical, Electrical and Electrical Low Voltage Project Managers and team
• Interpretation of construction documents, controls sequences and technical manuals.
• Run startup meetings involving all trade Managers, Design Team members, multiple subcontractors, local utility agencies and owners to coordinate/drive MEP system start up activities.
• Interface between all trade Managers and multiple subcontractors to assist in coordinating Mechanical/Electrical startups.
• Verify all documentation is complete and equipment being readied for startup is construction complete and can be safely started.
• Organize and facilitate training of Owner's personnel in the operations and maintenance of all systems
• Review and process project submittal information and coordinate between multiple submittals to ensure the accuracy and functionality of each component of the various MEP systems
• Writing and publishing meeting minutes, schedule graphs and activity checklists
• Receiving and distributing requests for information and change documents issued by other offices
• Organization, completion and filing of record documents
• Information storage and retrieval using computer and other handheld electronic hardware
• Technical advisor at onsite field construction office
• Must be able to access all areas and levels of construction site for work progress review
• Clear communication skills in speech, handwriting and computer formatting required for responding to information requests

Qualifications:

Professional Experience and Education:

Position Related Skills

• Proficient inWindows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams),and have a general understanding of working within a computer network.
• Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
• Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
• Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques.
• Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method. Familiar with CSI specification system forconstruction.
• Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
• Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations.
• Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to work closely with a variety of trade and craft people in a fieldwork situation. Patience and professionalism are essential.
• Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.
• Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedules and sequences.
