Job summary

A&E Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Commissioning Lead to plan, coordinate, and lead commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover activities for semiconductor facilities.

You will be the technical leader for commissioning teams, ensuring safe transitions and thorough documentation aligned with project requirements and site procedures. You will collaborate across PM, engineering, construction, and operations, mentoring engineers and technicians while resolving startup issues and promoting

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary commissioning or startup teams.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms, utility systems, or comparable advanced manufacturing environments.
• Experience with greenfield construction, facility expansion, system turnover, and factory startup.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, control narratives, loop drawings, network drawings, and equipment documentation.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and common project documentation tools.
• Ability to travel or work on site as required by project needs.

Job description

The Commissioning Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover activities for semiconductor manufacturing facilities. This position serves as the technical leader for commissioning teams and ensures systems are installed, tested, documented, and safely transitioned to the customer in accordance with project requirements, schedule, quality standards, and site procedures. The Commissioning Lead works closely with project management, engineering, construction, operations, equipment vendors, subcontractors, and customer representatives. This role provides clear field leadership, mentors commissioning engineers and technicians, resolves startup issues, and promotes consistent execution across all assigned systems and work areas.

Requirements

• Good communication skills with an ability to coordinate with multiple key stakeholders, understand their driving concerns and effectively convey progress and constraints effectively.
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and develop high‑performing startup teams.
• 5+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary commissioning or startup teams.
• Demonstrated experience in semiconductor manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms, utility systems, or comparable advanced manufacturing environments.
• Experience with greenfield construction, facility expansion, system turnover, and factory startup.

Preferred:

• BS degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or a related technical field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• 10+ years of industrial commissioning, startup, controls, construction, or operations experience.
• Experience supporting semiconductor owners, engineering firms, construction managers, or tool and equipment vendors.
• Experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, building management, and facility monitoring systems.
• Experience with Siemens PCS 7, WinCC, TIA Portal, AVEVA or comparable automation platforms.
• Experience with cleanroom support systems, process utilities, electrical distribution, HVAC, ultra‑pure water, waste treatment, chemical distribution, and life‑safety interfaces.
• Experience developing commissioning plans, test procedures, punch logs, turnover packages, and operational readiness documentation.
• Commissioning, ISA, PMP, OSHA, or other relevant professional certification.
