Job summary

Wood PLC seeks a Commissioning Engineer - Instrumentation and Controls to join its Operations team onsite in the United States. You will lead commissioning and startup for processing, utilities, and supporting systems, applying Wood's safety policies and coordinating with Construction and Operations teams.

Responsibilities include planning, executing, and documenting commissioning activities, interfacing with client management, and ensuring a smooth transition to Operations.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience in oil and gas/energy with relevant certifications
• Minimum 5+ years in engineering, construction, commissioning, startup and operations
• Experience with turbine generation and control systems
• Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting Mark VIe/VI/ V/ II systems
• Ability to support PLC-based hardware/software and integration activities

Responsibilities

• Lead/assist commissioning activities and start-up of project processing, utility, and support systems
• Develop commissioning philosophy, schedule, and procedures during Detailed Design
• Execute commissioning procedures and coordinate with project teams
• Coordinate handover to Operations and interface with client management
• Prepare budgets and manpower estimates for commissioning activities
• Develop test equipment and vendor coordination for onshore/offshore work
• Ensure safety policies are implemented across commissioning phases
• Produce system walkdowns, punch lists, and progress reporting

The Role

The Commissioning Engineer will be accountable for the commission and start-up of project processing, utility and supporting systems, completing the commissioning work-scope in a logical and controlled sequence and to the project specifications. Implement Wood's Safety Policies and Procedures throughout the commissioning phases of the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities:

• Responsible for preparing/supporting Commissioning Team with: Commissioning philosophy, schedule and procedures during project Detailed Design phase
• System commissioning activities during all phases of the project.
• Execute Commissioning Procedures with Commissioning Team support
• Support system handover and acceptance from Construction Team and to Operations Team; including system discipline walk downs and punch list generation
• Report to the Project Manager on issues regarding commissioning, start up schedule and progress
• Interface with client management regarding commissioning and start-up
• Ensure all commissioning resources are being utilized in a cost effective manner
• Define system priority hand over list from Construction to Commissioning and from Commissioning to Operations
• Will direct or assist in developing Project Manpower Estimates and System Commissioning Schedules
• Develop and maintain commissioning budget
• Develop and review commissioning test equipment and material take-offs for onshore and offshore execution
• Develop vendor call-out requirements and schedule for specialized vendor supplied equipment and overall vendor coordination
• Prepare systems for final inspection and hand over to Operations Team after commissioning procedures are complete
• Need proficiency in MS Office Applications e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Power Point
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Expected:

• Degree in Engineering or relevant experience Oil and Gas / Energy Industry. Equivalent industry certifications and experience will be considered
• 5+ years of experience in oil and gas / energy industry Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Start-Up and Operations experience, particularly Commissioning and Start-up experience of large capital projects, multi-disciplinary supervisory roles in all industry type facilities
• Experience with Turbine generation: specifically controls systems Mark Vie / LCI2100e and EX2100e
• Experience with Gas turbine control systems and auxiliaries
• Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnostics of Mark VIe, Mark VI, Mark V and Mark II control systems in both power generation and mechanical drive
• Ability to provide technical support of PLC-based hardware and software
• Employee must be able to see and read reports
• Employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hand and fingers, and reach with hands and arms
• Employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Employee must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers. Field Employees must be able to pass an audiometric test
• Employee must be able to safely traverse stairs
• Employee must be able to pass a medical "Fit for Duty" physical and drug screen
• If assigned Offshore, employee must be able to pass HUET/METS
