Job summary

Sustainable Comfort, Inc. (SCI) is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our Northeast team. You will lead commissioning on multifamily and commercial buildings, ensuring HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and control systems operate as intended.

You will collaborate with developers, architects, contractors, and owners to advance energy efficiency and high-performance building design. Whether performing functional testing, troubleshooting, or supporting M&V efforts, your work will contribute to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in commissioning, HVAC design, or building systems.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and controls.
• Experience with NYSERDA, LEED, energy code compliance, or existing building commissioning in NY.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning on multifamily and institutional building projects.
• Perform functional testing, troubleshooting, and verification of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, control, and other building systems.
• Review construction documents, submittals, and system designs to verify project requirements.
• Develop commissioning plans, test procedures, reports, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, owners, and project teams throughout design, construction, and occupancy.
• Identify, document, and help resolve system deficiencies.
• Support M&V projects through data collection planning, field coordination, analysis, and reporting.
• Review technical work for quality, accuracy, and consistency.
• Assist with proposal development and technical responses for new projects.
• Stay current with emerging building technologies, energy codes, commissioning standards, and industry best practices.
