Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group seeks a Commissioning Engineer to drive the commissioning, testing, and performance verification of large-scale HVAC and plumbing systems at commercial project sites. Based at VMG HQ in Reston, VA with 30–40% travel to DMV-area sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC, or a construction related field.
• 4+ years of experience in MEP systems commissioning, testing, or a related field.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret design documents and specifications.

Requirements for this role include:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC, or a construction related field AND 4+ years of experience in MEP systems commissioning, testing, or a related field.


• Commissioning Certification (BCxP, CxA, CxT, CCP, etc.) preferred, not required.


• Possess a strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and control systems. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and testing equipment.


• Proficient in reading and interpreting design documents and specifications, specifically a strong understanding of operations and controls.


• Ability to travel to different project locations, specifically in the DMV region, as required.

This position is based at our HQ in Reston, VA. This role will also require travel to work sites in the DMV area, which can be up to 30-40% of the role.
