Job summary

Schneider Electric is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our field services team in Goodyear, AZ. You will travel regionally to start up, repair, and troubleshoot modular data centers at partner sites, collaborating with technicians, electricians, and project managers to ensure successful commissioning and escalation handling.

The role emphasizes problem solving, safety, and continuous learning, with occasional overnight travel to other sites in the US or Mexico.

Commissioning Engineers play an impactful role within the organization - collaborating with customers, team members and third-party partners to perform, startup, diagnostic, repair, and troubleshooting of our modular data centers. This opportunity is a site-based position with occasional nonstandard hours. There is a 40-hour guarantee (+Overtime), with most work occurring at our outside partner sites.

As a Commissioning Engineer, a typical day for you might include:

  • Travel in your local region to start up, repair, troubleshoot, modular data centers at our partner sites.
  • Problem solving with commissioning technicians, electricians, manufacturing partners, technical support, and Field Service Representatives
  • Completion of commissioning reports and expense reports
  • Authoring commissioning test plans
  • Working with your Manager and/or Regional Service Director to resolve complex escalated issues
  • Assisting in the development of our commissioning technicians
  • Continuous learning and training on various products both in the field and in the classroom
On some days, you may even:
  • Travel throughout the US or Mexico to support other manufacturing partner or customer sites outside your local region. This includes overnight travel by vehicle/air.
  • Assist and support Project Management on larger system start-ups.
  • Work alongside larger teams of FSRs and collaborate with Project Managers on higher complexity projects.
  • Act as the lead personnel on behalf of Schneider Electric with our Manufacturing Partners
This may be the next step in your career if you have:
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree, trade/vocational certification, Military training or similar experience in electrical-related disciplines.
  • The ability to read blueprints/schematics.
  • Thorough understanding of principles of AC and DC power, various AC and DC supply circuit components include 3-phase power.
  • Industrial and/or Commercial Electrical experience
  • 3+ years of field service repair and customer service with Medium & Low Voltage Switchgear and/or UPS (Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, power distribution units, seamless automatic transfer switches (ATS), power distribution units, electrical, electro-mechanical or electronics related equipment.
  • 5+ years in Field Services or equivalent industry experience.
  • English proficiency required to communicate with customers and team members.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills and systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel; and the ability to navigate and utilize company digital tools and resources.
  • Must possess good safety practices and adhere to the company’s safety procedures/polices (lock out tag out, comply with all safety programs and complete safety related training on time.
  • Identify hazards present in the work area and report all safety matters, incidents, near misses, to management or safety representative.
  • NFPA-70E or OSHA experience is preferred.
  • Safe driving and vehicle operations skills
  • Skilled at utilizing test and diagnostic equipment
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and operation manuals.
  • The ability to write service reports, correspondence, procedures, effectively present information and respond to customer questions.
  • Work frequently requires strenuous physical tasks, including bending, stooping and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Work outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, and dust.
  • Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time, including working in small, confined spaces.
