Job summary

HDR is seeking a proactive Mechanical Commissioning Agent/Engineer to lead commissioning efforts for mechanical and controls systems. You will perform all phases of commissioning from design through post-acceptance, participate in meetings, and maintain rigorous documentation.

  • 4+ years of industry experience in mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines.
  • Experience leading commissioning from design through project completion.
  • Willingness to travel to site-based locations as required by HDR.
  • Knowledge of commissioning processes for building systems including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and controls.

  • Generate and edit test scripts for basic mechanical equipment.

Mechanical Commissioning Agent/Engineer

We look for a proactive engineering professional to lead commissioning efforts for our clients in the mechanical and controls domain.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all phases of commissioning under the support of a senior-level commissioner, including production of commissioning materials for design, construction, acceptance testing, and post-acceptance commissioning.
  • Participate in commissioning meetings, maintain commissioning notes, and work within project deadlines and constraints.
  • Maintain communication with commissioning colleagues, clients, and other project stakeholders.
  • Perform site testing of mechanical equipment and electrical systems; some travel will be required based on project assignments.
  • Generate and edit test scripts for basic mechanical equipment.
  • Document testing results and maintain a non-compliance log.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering degree and/or LEED accreditation.
  • Strong controls background is highly desirable.
  • Local candidates preferred.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of industry experience dealing with mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines.
  • Proven ability to lead commissioning efforts from design through project completion.
  • Passion for sustainability and knowledge of commissioning processes for building systems (including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and controls).
  • Willingness to travel to site-based locations as required by HDR.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot HVAC, TAB, and Controls; excellent report writing skills.
  • Solid understanding of operational requirements, safety requirements, code inspections, and maintenance considerations.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and time management skills; exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to interact with people at all levels.
  • Technical knowledge of MEP systems and HVAC expertise.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Multitasking ability.
  • Valid driver’s license.
