THE PIG Hotel in the South Downs is hiring a Commis Chef. Join a kitchen that sources locally within a 25-mile radius, grows produce in our kitchen garden, and crafts menus with care.

This fast-paced role is ideal for someone eager to learn, has enthusiasm and a passion for food. You’ll train across sections with our team and have ample opportunities to progress within the business.

Responsibilities

• Learn across each kitchen section with guidance from experienced chefs.
• Work in a fast-paced, energetic kitchen environment.
• Engage with gardeners, local farmers, butchers and fishmongers to plan seasonal menus.

Job description

Location: THE PIG-in the South Downs, Madehurst, BN18 0NL

Pay package: £12.71 per hour (OTE £15.41 per hour including Tronc)

Hours: 40 hours per week, over 5 days

A Commis Chef role at THE PIG is like no other. We use local suppliers within a 25-mile radius, our own homegrown kitchen garden produce, and a bit of love to create our menus, which change all the time. Our Chefs are passionate and above all, driven to provide our guests with an unforgettable dining experience, creativity is what we do best.

Our kitchens are fast paced and energetic, which is what we look for in an individual. Come with enthusiasm, your knives and a bucketful of passion and we can help you develop the rest.

Our chefs are chatty people, having constant conversations with the gardeners, local farmers, butchers, and fishmongers about what is available and what is in season.

As Commis Chef, it's all about your passion for learning and our team setting you up for success. You will have the opportunity train alongside our experienced chefs across each section, passing on their knowledge and skill.
