Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an experienced Commercialization Professional - Contracts to report directly to the commercialization manager who supports large-scale infrastructure and construction programs.

This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of commercial, contracting, and strategic procurement strategies throughout the project lifecycle, from business case development and sourcing strategy through contract closeout and final commercial settlement.

Qualifications

  • Two years or more years of experience in commercial management, contract management, strategic sourcing, procurement, commercialization, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, construction, transportation, energy, industrial, or capital projects.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing commercial, contracting, and procurement strategies that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience managing contract lifecycles, commercial governance, strategic sourcing initiatives, financial controls, and supplier performance programs.
  • Experience negotiating complex contracts and managing commercial risk throughout project execution.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders in complex project environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial activities throughout the project lifecycle, including Business case development, Commercial strategy and execution planning, Strategic sourcing and procurement planning, Value assessment and realization, Contracting and supplier engagement, Commercial governance and compliance, Contract closeout and financial settlement.
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and procurement activities for major contracts, services, and materials.
  • Develop category, sourcing, and supplier engagement strategies that deliver best value and support long-term business objectives.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, market conditions, and commercial opportunities to support procurement decision-making.
  • Drive supplier competitiveness through market analysis, benchmarking, and procurement optimization initiatives.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction, and Operations teams to ensure sourcing strategies support project delivery requirements.
  • Manage the full contract lifecycle from procurement planning through contract administration and closeout.
  • Lead contract negotiations, amendments, renewals, claims management, and dispute resolution activities.
  • Oversee contract compliance, governance processes, and risk management activities.
  • Ensure contractual obligations, commercial commitments, and performance requirements are effectively managed and monitored.
  • Establish and maintain strong commercial controls, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Manage commercial budgets, forecasting, accruals, invoicing, and payment processes.
  • Monitor financial performance and contract obligations to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Develop, track, and report KPIs related to supplier performance, contract compliance, cost savings, and value realization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance commercial performance, supplier accountability, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize costs, reduce risks, and improve overall value delivery.

Your impact

At Jacobs, we are seeking an experienced Commercialization Professional - Contracts to report directly to the commercialization manager who supports large-scale infrastructure and construction programs.

This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of commercial, contracting, and strategic procurement strategies throughout the project lifecycle, from business case development and sourcing strategy through contract closeout and final commercial settlement.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted commercial advisor, driving contract excellence, supplier performance, procurement effectiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to the successful delivery of strategic business and project outcomes.

Preference will be given to candidates willing to commute to the office in Columbus, OH or who are willing to travel up to 50% of the time to client sites.

Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Lifecycle Management
  • Develop and implement commercial and procurement strategies that support project objectives, schedule commitments, and financial targets.
  • Lead commercial activities throughout the project lifecycle, including
    • Business case development
    • Commercial strategy and execution planning
    • Strategic sourcing and procurement planning
    • Value assessment and realization
    • Contracting and supplier engagement
    • Commercial governance and compliance
    • Contract closeout and financial settlement
  • Ensure commercial objectives align with organizational priorities, project requirements, and client expectations.
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and procurement activities for major contracts, services, and materials.
  • Develop category, sourcing, and supplier engagement strategies that deliver best value and support long‑term business objectives.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, market conditions, and commercial opportunities to support procurement decision‑making.

Here's what you'll need
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; or a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Supply Chain Management, Finance, Economics, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
Experience
  • Two years or more years of experience in commercial management, contract management, strategic sourcing, procurement, commercialization, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, construction, transportation, energy, industrial, or capital projects.

The base salary range for this position is $98,900.00 to $167,625.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
