Our Commercial Underwriting Office seeks industry experts. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to identify business requirements and develop strategies to deliver industry-specific content, guidelines, and process improvements. It also includes establishing relationships with key brokers and educating associates on underwriting guidelines to ensure an in-depth understanding of proper risk selection. The role leverages underwriting and industry expertise to manage our Construction book of business across Commercial Lines, ensuring alignment with business strategies and production goals.

This position is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio. Many departments offer hybrid work options, allowing associates to work from home several days a week, depending on role and responsibilities.

Starting pay:

The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $145,000 annually, based on education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on performance.

Be ready to:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Commercial Lines, including IT, Claims, Sales, Loss Control, and others.
  • Develop industry-specific underwriting and training tools to empower associates and increase underwriting knowledge.
  • Support Sales by articulating our appetite to increase submission count.
  • Interact with leadership, providing feedback and transforming strategic objectives into practical solutions.
  • Conduct book analyses to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Develop and monitor industry-specific underwriting guidelines.
  • Assist in R&D efforts to create new products and improve value propositions.
  • Provide thought leadership through white papers, alerts, and industry panels.
  • Support training efforts within Commercial Lines and with agencies.
  • Stay informed on market conditions, products, and coverage needs.
  • Maintain relationships with key brokers, agents, and industry influencers.
  • Maintain industry-specific associations and vendor relationships.
Be equipped with:
  • Effective interaction skills with all levels of partners.
  • Strong communication skills for education and information sharing.
  • Data analytics skills to inform underwriting strategy.
  • Strong underwriting acumen and decision-making skills.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of supporting business units and their contributions.
Bring education and experience from:
  • Five or more years in the commercial property and casualty industry (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Cincinnati Insurance’s products.
  • Understanding of the construction industry related to property and casualty.
  • Experience in setting and achieving objectives, influencing others.
