Job summary

Dallas Trailer Repair Co. is seeking a Commercial Trailer Systems Diagnostic Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair trailers in a safety-focused shop environment. You will analyze mechanical faults, execute repairs to spec, and perform routine services to keep equipment compliant with manufacturer specs.

The role requires hands-on experience, basic math, and clear documentation. Candidates should bring their own tools and PPE; ASE credentials are a plus.

DALLAS TRAILER REPAIR CO.Commercial Trailer Systems Diagnostic TechnicianWhat a day looks likeYou roll into a clean, safety-focused shop and start by walking a trailer end-to-end. You spot-check lighting, air, and braking systems, then move underneath to assess cross-members, dolly legs, tandem assemblies, and suspension components. With a clear plan in mind, you dive into repairs and routine services, documenting your action steps as you go and communicating updates to teammates and customers. Throughout the day, you keep your bay orderly, follow established repair protocols, and make sure every job meets industry standards and manufacturer specs.What you’ll doInspect, analyze, and diagnose commercial trailers and related equipment to identify mechanical faults and worn parts.Execute repairs to spec, aligned with industry best practices and OEM guidelines.Handle routine services to keep trailers road-ready and compliant.Perform body and undercarriage work such as air bag replacement, cross-members, dolly legs, and tandem system repairs.Create and record step-by-step repair plans; use checklists and established procedures.Maintain a tidy, organized bay; care for shop tools and equipment.Champion safety rules and safe-work practices at all times.Collaborate effectively with coworkers and also operate independently when needed.Take on additional duties as assigned.QualificationsExperience: 1–2 years of mechanical or closely related hands-on experience.Certifications: ASE credentials are a plus but not required.Proven mechanical aptitude and comfort with basic math.Ability to read and write in English for documentation and communication.Bring your own tools and PPE (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection).Pre-employmentMust pass pre-employment knowledge/skill test, background check (10-year), and drug/medical physical exam.Physical demandsHeavy Work: Exert up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly.Frequent activities: Walking, standing, climbing, stooping, crouching, balancing, kneeling, and crawling.Manual dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping, typing, and operating tools.Sensory abilities: Talking, hearing, & vision sufficient for detailed inspection and safe operation of tools, machinery, and vehicles.Where you’ll workWork is primarily performed in a shop environment—both indoors and outdoors—where you may encounter:Non-climate-controlled conditions and temperature swings (hot/cold)Dirt, dust, soot, fumes, and airborne particlesMoving mechanical parts and electrical systemsChemicals and areas with limited ventilationHeights, confined spaces, and high noise levelsProper PPE and adherence to safety protocols are required at all times.Compensation & benefitsHourly Rate: $25 – $35 (depending on experience and location)Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance401(k) Plan with Company MatchingPaid Time OffHoliday PayTraining & Development ProgramMonthly Productivity/Bonus Incentive Program(s)Shift Differentials (2nd or 3rd Shift ONLY)This job description is not an exhaustive list of all duties or responsibilities associated with the Trailer Technician position.
