Job summary

Great American Insurance Group’s Bond Division seeks a Commercial Surety Head Underwriter. The role requires in-office presence in Cincinnati, OH, with travel to approved locations.

Lead the Production Underwriting team, oversee risk assessment and policy renewals, and drive profitable growth while maintaining exceptional client service. The ideal candidate will possess a BA/BS or MS in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience) and 10–15 years of surety

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 10–15 years of surety underwriting experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles.
• Completion of or progress toward a professional designation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Financial Products Underwriting operations, improve workflow efficiency and maintain high productivity.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for the Production Underwriting team aligned with business goals.
• Evaluate underwritten risk quality and volume and produce reports with key insights.
• Guide relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive profitable growth.

Candidates located outside of these markets may be considered if they are willing to relocate to Cincinnati, our preferred location.
