Job summary

Great American Insurance Group, a leader in the surety market, seeks a Commercial Surety Head Underwriter. This role requires regular in-office presence and travel, with Cincinnati, OH as the preferred location.

We will also consider candidates in Orange, CA; Schaumburg, IL; Philadelphia, PA; Hartford, CT; Atlanta, GA; and Dallas, TX willing to relocate to Cincinnati. The role includes overseeing underwriting operations, developing strategic plans for production teams, evaluating risk quality,

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Generally, a minimum of 10-15 years of surety underwriting experience, including a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.
• Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Financial Products Underwriting operations, enhance workflow efficiency, and maintain high productivity levels.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for the Production Underwriting team, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Oversee assessment of underwritten risk quality and volume and compile reports to convey key insights.
• Leverage strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive profitable growth.
• Oversee assessment of policy renewals and modifications, recommending improvements and risk mitigation opportunities.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by monitoring reports on service levels, activities, and customer experience, implementing improvements.
• Oversee product and service promotions, ensuring alignment with market growth objectives.
• Oversee underwriting rules, rating manuals, and insurance regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Bond Division is seeking a Commercial Surety Head Underwriter. This position requires regular in-office presence and travel. Cincinnati, OH is the preferred location for this role. We will also consider candidates currently located in Orange, CA; Schaumburg, IL; Philadelphia, PA; Hartford, CT; Atlanta, GA; and Dallas, TX. Candidates located outside of these markets may be considered if they are willing to relocate to Cincinnati, our preferred location. Relocation to one of the other approved office locations may also be considered based on business needs and candidate qualifications.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Accountable for overseeing Financial Products Underwriting operations, enhancing workflow efficiency, and maintaining high productivity levels.
• Accountable for developing and implementing strategic plans for the Production Underwriting team, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
• Oversee the assessment of underwritten risk quality and volume and compile comprehensive reports to convey key insights.
• Leverages strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive and sustain profitable growth.
• Oversees and guides the assessment of policy renewals and modifications, recommending strategic improvements and risk mitigation opportunities.
• Responsible for the delivery of exceptional customer service by monitoring management reports on service levels, activities, customer experience, and implementing strategic improvements as necessary.
• Responsible for overseeing product and service promotions, ensuring they align with market growth objectives and enhance customer engagement.
• Oversee the implementation, application, and updating of underwriting rules, rating manual guidelines, and insurance regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
