Job Description

Summary:

The Director of Cell and Gene Therapy Commercial Supply Chain will lead the slot management strategy, development, and operations to support Vertex's autologous cell and gene therapy program. Responsibilities include managing dynamic, short-range, and situational planning and operations for visibility and patient scheduling. The Director will establish, maintain, and revise slot management rules to ensure appropriate patient scheduling within manufacturing capacity and regulatory requirements, chair steering committee meetings, and deliver key presentations to cross-functional leaders.

Key tasks involve creating and maintaining a KPI Dashboard to drive business decisions, analyzing business analytics, and identifying process improvements. The role also includes developing business processes to optimize capacity utilization across the Supply Chain network and representing the Supply Chain as a key lead in cross-functional initiatives. Collaboration with stakeholders such as the Strategic Product Lead, Finance, Regulatory, Commercial, Logistics, Manufacturing, and Vertex's Cell and Gene Therapy Site is essential.

The Director will set operating principles for communication and alignment on slot management, scheduling, and KPIs/Business Analytics, playing a vital role in the commercialization and scalability of Vertex's assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interact with senior management and conduct executive presentations on supply chain issues and initiatives.
  • Design and implement departmental goals, participate in setting goals for CMSC, and contribute to company-wide initiatives.
  • Advance KPI modeling to inform business decisions and lead system requirements, compliance, testing, and utilization efforts.
  • Identify and develop new processes and capabilities supporting Cell and Gene Therapy programs.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Program Lead to track program-specific deliverables.
  • Anticipate industry trends and maintain knowledge of manufacturing, development, and supply chain operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business discipline preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management.
  • Proven ability to optimize resources and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong business acumen with knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations (cGMP, GCP, GDP, import/export, Part 11) and ERP/MRP systems like Oracle OPM.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in building high-performing teams.

Pay Range:

$176,000 - $264,000

Disclosure Statement:

The salary range is an estimate and may vary based on skills, experience, and other factors. The role is eligible for bonuses and equity awards, with additional benefits including health coverage, paid time off, educational assistance, and more.

Flex Designation:

Hybrid-Eligible or On-Site Eligible. The role may be designated as Hybrid (remote up to two days/week) or On-Site (five days/week with ad hoc flexibility). The Flex status is subject to Vertex's policies.
