We are actively hiring for a Commercial Subrogation Specialist!

Your Role

This position consists of low to medium complexity claims handling and is responsible for investigating, researching, and concluding subrogation recovery for automobile, commercial losses, and specialized services. In this role you will handle various types of personal and commercial subrogation claims with a primary focus on more complicated recoveries.

Under general direction, you will handle an inventory consisting of automotive damage, disputed liability, government entity, coverage limits, and commercial subrogation and cross-jurisdictional claims. The specialist will initiate and hear arbitration between companies on disputed liability and/or damage claims. Within their authority, the subrogation specialist will negotiate and conclude recovery settlements while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.

Handles any commercial product types including but not limited to auto, fleet, general liability, last mile delivery, inland marine, and excess & surplus. Will handle claims in any geographic venue. Handles claims involving many vehicle types that may include but is not limited to auto, motorcycles, scooters, recreational vehicles, autonomous driving vehicles, autonomous delivery vehicles, remote-controlled delivery vehicles, watercrafts, and trucks.

Your work

  • Answers and assists in all incoming subrogation calls. Investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and adjusts/settles to conclusion auto or property damage claims and out-of-state losses within a specific draft authority, typically $12,500 or less. This involves non-complex and complex liability claims and claims not requiring outside field adjustment.
  • Handles a variety of subrogation claims such as total losses; verified/government claims; Uninsured Motorist claims; limit claims due to liability cover for adverse carriers; and partial recoveries. Also handles any and all types of arbitration filings, excluding Medical and Personal Injury claims except in Kentucky. Responsible for confirming file closure in all systems (i.e., CAS, E-Hub, etc.).
  • Responsible for filing E-Subro Hub or inter-company arbitrations on minor claims as required.
  • Responsible for determining appropriate collection method (i.e., outside agency or CSAA Subrogation Law Department).
  • Responsibilities may include processing/allocating liability deductible and/or self-insured retention recovery from insureds back to individual claim files.

Required Experience, Education And Skills

  • 2-3 years of automotive claims liability experience
  • General knowledge of Department of Insurance regulations
  • Must hold an Adjuster licensed for all applicable states or obtain license(s) within 90 days of filling position as a condition of employment
  • High School (HS)/GED or 1 year customer service experience in a virtual environment leveraging internet, phone, and chat features industry
  • Strong customer service and negotiation skills
  • Proficient analytical, problem-solving, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to type 50 wpm
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to take direction and act accordingly
  • Critical thinking and strong logic and reasoning skills

Please note we are hiring for this role remote anywhere in the United States with the following exceptions Hawaii and Alaska.

The national average hourly rate for this position is $30.03-$33.37. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on work location. The starting pay range for this position across all the states we hire in is $27.05-$40.10. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 7% of eligible pay.
