Job summary

Buildto is seeking a Commercial Site Superintendent to oversee on-site construction activities from mobilization to turnover. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage the schedule, maintain safety and quality, and work closely with the Project Manager to deliver projects according to plans and company standards.

The role requires 5+ years in commercial construction and strong leadership, scheduling, and safety expertise.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction field experience.
• Experience as a Superintendent or similar field leadership role.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
• Strong scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety practices.
• Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Build, or similar.

Position Summary

The Commercial Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities from project mobilization through completion and turnover. The Superintendent coordinates subcontractors, manages the construction schedule, maintains jobsite safety and quality standards, works closely with the Project Manager, and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans, specifications, and company standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage daily job site operations and all field activities.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, and field personnel.
• Develop and maintain short-term schedules and support the overall project schedule.
• Conduct daily planning and subcontractor coordination to keep work moving efficiently.
• Review drawings and specifications and collaborate with Project Manager to identify, coordinate, and manage required submittals, ensuring approvals are obtained before schedule is impacted.
• Identify conflicts, constructability concerns, and upcoming constraints before they affect the work.
• Maintain jobsite safety and enforce company policies and OSHA requirements.
• Perform regular quality-control inspections and verify work complies with plans, specifications, codes, and company standards.
• Coordinate required inspections with building officials and other authorities having legal control.
• Track subcontractor progress and communicate schedule, quality, or performance concerns promptly.
• Maintain daily reports documenting manpower, work completed, deliveries, inspections, delays, weather, and significant jobsite events.
• Coordinate site logistics, temporary facilities, access, material staging, and jobsite cleanliness.
• Develop, manage, and complete punch-list items.
• Coordinate project closeout, final inspections, commissioning, owner training, and turnover.
• Communicate regularly with the Project Manager regarding schedule, cost impacts, RFIs, change conditions, and subcontractor performance.
• Maintain professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Run weekly OAC meetings and send out meeting minutes.

Planning & Leadership Expectations

• Maintain a rolling 2- to 6-week look-ahead schedule and use it to drive field coordination.
• Verify labor, materials, equipment, information, and inspections are ready before work is scheduled to begin.
• Lead field coordination with a proactive, problem-solving approach rather than reacting after issues become delays.
• Communicate risks and constraints early enough for the project team to take corrective action.
• Set clear expectations for subcontractors and hold the field team accountable for safety, schedule, quality, and housekeeping.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction field experience, depending on project size and complexity.
• Previous experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or similar field leadership position.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction means and methods.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
• Strong scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with solid organization and follow-through.
• Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Build, or similar platforms.
• OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or other relevant certifications preferred.
