Job summary

Tecta America Seattle, a commercial roofing contractor, seeks an experienced Project Estimator/Manager to plan, organize, and lead roofing projects from acquisition to fulfillment. You will estimate costs, review contracts, and coordinate with owners, contractors, and suppliers to deliver accurate bids and on-time performance.

The role requires at least three years in construction, strong planning, problem-solving, and proficiency with Excel and Viewpoint.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, college preferred.
• At least 3 years in construction with emphasis on customer relations and cost control.
• Strong planning, organization and problem-solving abilities; can manage multiple tasks with urgency.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and set objectives for projects.
• Estimate job costs and submit proposals for review.
• Review and approve invoices, contracts and change orders for accuracy.
• Maintain bid calendars and supplier pricing lists; visit jobs and attend pre-bid meetings.
• Coordinate with owners, contractors and suppliers; oversee production crews.
• Review POs and ensure alignment with scope and policies.

Job Functions

• Plan, organize, and establish objectives and goals for projects assigned.
• Estimate job costs and submit proposals for review.
• Understand all processes of job from acquisition to fulfillment.
• Review and approve invoices, material slips, purchase orders, contracts, and proposals to verify accuracy
• Handle all estimating duties to include bids, pricing, and change orders.
• Maintain Bid Calendar
• Maintain/ periodically update default supplier price lists
• Visit jobs, attend pre-bid meetings
• Secure pricing from suppliers
• Maintain bid results & statistics
• Review Notice to Proceeds/ Contracts for scope & price accuracy
• Set up jobs (Project Information Sheets, Budgets, Pricing Sheets, Schedule of Values, Job Hand-Off Forms)
• Develop relationships with owners, contractors, & suppliers
• Resolve disputes with clients and past due accounts efficiently
• Maintain and protect all company equipment, vehicles, and Company policies.
• Track labor and material costs of jobs.
• Field customer requests, questions and complaints.
• Oversee commercial roofing production crews.
• Develop leads and promote the department’s services.
• Review purchase orders, contracts, and proposals to verify intended scope of work and to assure that company policies are not compromised.
• Purchase materials as necessary and maintain department inventory and price material inventory slips.
• Increase revenue by monitoring labor and material costs.
• Provide effective leadership for the production department, i.e. teamwork, motivation, and positive employee relations.
• Submit budget and capital expenditure requests as needed.
• Work with prime and subcontractors on all phases of projects including schedules, change orders, and submittals.
• Direct customer questions, complaints, and requests appropriately. Perform field inspections and investigations as necessary.
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential)

• High School Diploma or equivalent, college preferred
• Minimum three (3) years of construction industry experience with emphasis on all facets of business including but not limited to customer relations,
• Other critical skills include planning & organizing; problem identification/resolution, multi-tasking, follow-through skills to bring tasks to closure in a timely manner, priority setting, and having a sense of urgency in accomplishing tasks in a timely manner.
• Strong attention to detail
• Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and comfortable visiting actual job sites about 50% of the time (without fear of heights)
• Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with associates

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Desirable)

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field
• Knowledge of business and management principles
• Knowledge of project management software, specifically Viewpoint
• extensive knowledge of roofing materials, techniques and requirements

Working Conditions

Physical surroundings: Office and field environment with typical office machines and exposure to noise and temperature as well as exposure to typical hazards of jobsite, including ladders, construction materials, etc.
Physical Effort: Extensive sitting, standing, walking, climbing ladders. Repetitive keying, typing. Occasional lifting not to exceed 50 pounds.
Domestic Travel: Occasional, for purposes of training in operating units
Extensive Hours: Not subject to overtime
Starting pay ranges from $75k-90k, based on experience and qualifications.
