Position Title: Commercial Relationship Manager - Commercial and Industrial (C&I)
Exempt Status: Exempt, Full Time
Reports to: CLO, Commercial Lending Manager, or Regional or Market President

Summary of the Job: Provides commercial lending activities in compliance with Southside Bank’s policies and procedures. Generate new commercial customer relationships as well as maintain existing commercial customer base.
Essential Functions:
- Work independently to identify and develop profitable new client relationships by leveraging centers of influence, existing client relationships, and referral sources.
- Increase the Bank's profitability by cultivating new and deepening existing business relationships.
- Work closely with internal partners to deliver comprehensive banking services to clients, prospects, and communities.
- Acquire and deepen deposit relationships, and effectively cross-sell treasury products.
- Negotiate proper loan structures, selling the Bank's credit and non-credit products.
- Manage, plan, and complete periodic reviews of existing loan arrangements to verify suitability and risk tolerance.
- Review and decide on client deposit and payment activity.
- Accept special projects in support of the team and community involvement.
- Maintain knowledge of banking, credit, non-credit products, real estate, treasury management, and other bank functions.
- Maintain knowledge of accounting, financial principles, marketing, sales, credit analysis, and economics.
- Represent the bank professionally in public, social, and civic gatherings.
- Stay current on regulations, analysis, and trends in banking through continuing education.
- Attend and participate in weekly and monthly meetings as required.
Additional Functions:
- Supervise support staff, including performance development and appraisals.
- Engage in community activities to identify and originate personal mortgages (if licensed and trained).
- Interview residential mortgage loan applicants and complete thorough loan applications.
- Comply with all safety policies and report unsafe activities.
- Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provide leadership through example and knowledge sharing.
- Attend external meetings, such as board meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field.
- 3-5 years of direct lending or credit analysis experience focusing on commercial/business relationships.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial banking products and services.
- Training and knowledge of credit and underwriting processes.
- Sales experience and familiarity with loan processing and closing procedures.
- Postgraduate banking certification or training.

- Ability to build and enhance customer relationships to expand loans and cross-sell bank products.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship skills.
- Ability to analyze business publications, regulations, and technical procedures; effective written and verbal communication.
- Strong mathematical skills including interest, discounts, and percentages.
- Problem-solving ability, data collection, and interpretation skills.
- Proficiency with personal computers and software applications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, organize, and delegate.
Physical Activity/Dexterity:
- Sufficient manual dexterity to handle items and work with fingers.
Physical Environment Demands:
- Remain stationary for 90% of the time; occasional movement within the office.
- Operate computer and office machinery constantly.
- Communicate frequently with others.
Working Conditions/Environment:
- Indoor office setting with good lighting, heating/air conditioning, and ventilation.
- Moderate noise levels.
Work Schedule/Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Overtime as needed.
