Job description

Commercial Relationship Manager / Senior Commercial Banker

Location: Seattle, WA preferred; Bellevue/Eastside candidates also considered.

Opportunity Overview

A well-established commercial banking organization in the Seattle market is selectively adding an experienced Commercial Relationship Manager as part of an important succession and growth initiative.

This is not an empty-desk opportunity.

The incoming banker will assume responsibility for a meaningful existing commercial portfolio while also being expected to develop new relationships, expand deposits and fee income, and help the organization achieve significant growth objectives.

The opportunity is particularly well suited for an experienced commercial banker who enjoys building relationships but also wants to work in an environment where experienced bankers can make decisions, collaborate closely with credit partners, and execute effectively for clients.

What Makes This Opportunity Different
  • Meaningful existing commercial portfolio
  • Strong institutional appetite for growth
  • Functional, collaborative credit process
  • Experienced portfolio-management and credit support
  • Direct interaction with senior banking leadership
  • Boutique, relationship-oriented commercial banking environment
  • Experienced senior bankers who actively collaborate and mentor
  • Opportunity to develop significant new commercial relationships
  • Performance culture that rewards portfolio, deposit, and fee-income growth
  • Long-term client relationship philosophy rather than transactional banking
Responsibilities
  • Manage and deepen an established portfolio of commercial banking relationships.
  • Develop new commercial clients through direct calling, referrals, centers of influence, and existing market relationships.
  • Generate commercial loans, deposits, fee income, and additional banking relationships.
  • Structure and evaluate commercial credit opportunities.
  • Work closely with portfolio management and credit partners throughout underwriting and approval.
  • Present and defend credit recommendations through the appropriate approval process.
  • Monitor portfolio credit quality, covenant compliance, and overall risk.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships across appropriate banking services.
  • Maintain a high level of responsiveness and client satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships throughout the Seattle-area business community.
  • Mentor developing bankers when appropriate.
  • Contribute to the organization's broader commercial growth objectives.

  • Collaborative, accountable, growth-oriented working style.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, banking, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Preferred Book / Business Characteristics

Candidates do not necessarily need to bring a fully portable portfolio because the position includes meaningful existing relationships.

Preference will be given, however, to bankers who have an established commercial network and can identify realistic opportunities to develop new relationships after joining.

Relevant experience should include sophisticated commercial lending rather than primarily branch-driven or small-business transactions.

Candidates should be comfortable generating business independently and working across loans, deposits, treasury relationships, and fee-generating opportunities.

Not a Fit If You
  • Depend primarily on branch referrals or internally generated leads for production.
  • Want to inherit a portfolio without continuing to originate new business.
  • Lack hands-on commercial credit and loan-structuring experience.
  • Are uncomfortable presenting or defending credit recommendations.
  • Prefer to leave all credit responsibility to underwriting or portfolio-management partners.
  • Have strong community relationships but cannot demonstrate how those relationships translate into commercial production.
  • Prefer a highly siloed environment where relationship managers operate independently from credit and senior leadership.
  • Are primarily experienced in smaller, less-complex business banking relationships without exposure to larger commercial transactions.
Compensation

Competitive base compensation is offered based on experience, portfolio responsibility, market background, and demonstrated production capabilities.

The organization also provides an incentive structure designed to reward successful commercial bankers for meaningful portfolio growth, new business development, deposits, fee income, and overall contribution.

A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
