Job summary

Shulman Rogers is seeking an experienced Commercial Real Estate Paralegal to join its Potomac office. The ideal candidate will manage sophisticated transactions from due diligence through closing and post-closing, coordinating with attorneys, clients, lenders and title underwriters.

The role requires 8+ years in CRE transactions, strong title insurance expertise, and a Maryland, Virginia, or DC Title Producer license. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience handling sophisticated commercial real estate transactions.
• Extensive commercial title insurance and underwriting expertise.
• Must hold a valid Title Producer License in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
• Strong knowledge of commercial lending, lien priorities, and recording requirements in MD, DC and VA.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, communication and financial skills.
• Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, and commercial lending.
• Examine title reports, ALTA surveys, and UCC searches; identify and resolve title issues.
• Prepare title insurance commitments, endorsements, policies, and closing documents.
• Coordinate due diligence, settlement statements, escrow accounts, disbursements, recordings, and post-closing matters.
• Manage multiple transactions and communicate directly with attorneys, clients, lenders, and other transaction participants.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial real estate transactions, with particular expertise in title insurance, title examination, and complex commercial closings.

This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can independently manage sophisticated transactions from due diligence through closing and post-closing while working closely with attorneys, clients, lenders and title underwriters.

Responsibilities:

• Experience with affordable housing finance, LIHTC transactions, tax-exempt bonds, and agency financing is highly preferred.
