Job summary

The program emphasizes portfolio analysis, underwriting research, and strategic projects, culminating in a capstone presentation.

Qualifications

• Interest in Insurance, underwriting, market trends or pursuing a degree in a relevant field.
• Analytical and detail-oriented, with strong problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency in math and comfortable with statistics, probability and financial principles.
• Effective communicator and team player.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and comfort working with data are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze commercial property exposures and learn how underwriters assess, price, and structure insurance solutions.
• Gain exposure to a broad range of industries, including real estate, healthcare, education, manufacturing, hospitality, and public entities.
• Assist with portfolio analysis, underwriting research, and strategic projects that support business decision‑making.
• Collaborate with underwriters, risk engineers, claims professionals, and other business partners.
• Develop practical experience in commercial insurance, risk management, and financial decision‑making.
• Present findings and recommendations through a capstone project at the conclusion of the internship.
• Collaborate with BHSI Interns across North America.
