Job summary

Hickory Construction, Inc. in Tennessee seeks an experienced Project Manager to provide technical expertise, coordinate activities, and manage daily field operations across multiple projects.

You will serve as the primary contact for owners and coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and design professionals. Responsibilities include developing schedules in MS Project, maintaining project documentation, ensuring safety compliance, monitoring progress, and controlling budgets.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar field.
  • 1+ year in a Project Manager role or equivalent.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, MS Office, MS Project and web-based applications.
  • OSHA 30 and CPR certification within 12 months.

  • Prepare Project Schedules on MS Project and review with VPO.
  • Ensure Safety Policy compliance on site at all times.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and project teams to minimize delays and rework.

Job description

Responsible for providing technical expertise, activity coordination and quality control for all daily work and forward planning on multiple projects simultaneously. Front line interaction with subcontractors, vendors, local municipality officials, design professionals and clients. This position provides key communication on a multitude of fronts to ensure that the expectations of all parties are met and/or exceeded.

Responsibilities
  • Regular presence on the work site and available at all times to the employees and subcontractors working on same while work is ongoing.
  • Maintain or provide for daily project documentation to be completed as required and distributed as needed.
  • Prepare Project Schedules on MS Project and review with VPO. Maintain updates as needed for effective scheduling.
  • Ensure that company Safety Policy is being followed at all times by all individuals on site, even visitors such as design professionals and clients
  • Proactively coordinate all work and members with Project Superintendent staff to ensure that execution is as seamless as possible and rework is minimized.
  • Monitor project progress daily and adjust activities as needed to avoid delays. Provide updates to supervisor on schedule and subcontractor performance.
  • Conduct OAC and subcontractor progress meetings as needed to facilitate project communication. Ensure notes of same are accurate and distributed.
  • Maintain adequate control over purchases and expenses on project to ensure only appropriate expenses get processed for payment and are within budgeted amounts.
  • Proactively coordinate all subcontractors on multiple projects within area so as to minimize delays and additional expenses.
  • Maintain all project documents, specifications, selections, milestone dates, Hickory Standard Practices and distribute to key players as needed.
  • Coordinate equipment needs for the project. Track and provide feedback regarding budget impact of same to the appropriate parties.
  • Prepare the Project Deliverables Schedule and collect samples as needed to expedite project flow. Distribute to Design Teams regularly.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the owner on projects. Conduct OAC Meetings as needed. Keep accurate records of ALL interactions with visitors to the site.
  • Maintain and provide regular updates to the Project Budget Review. Ensure it is distributed to all appropriate parties on a regular basis.
Qualifications
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar field
  • A minimum of 12 months in a Project Manager 1 or equivalent position
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, MS Office, MS Project and web based applications and able to train others on same
  • Procore Project Manager Certifications required
  • Considerable experience in high pressure situations and projects with tight deadlines required
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and non-verbal methods with both internal and external customers
  • Ability to work independently to carry out the scope of the project with minimal oversight and assistance from supervisor
  • Effective leadership skills for teams of 2-100 individuals at a time including company employees and subcontractors on multiple projects
  • OSHA 30 and CPR certified within 12 months of position acquisition.
