Job summary

  • Participate in bank-related and community events and business development activities.
  • Spread/analyze financial statements and tax returns of customers using credit criteria.
  • Review regulatory compliance items including CRA, Adverse Action, GLBA, etc.

About The Role

Summary

The Commercial Portfolio Manager II is responsible for managing and supporting a portfolio of commercial credit relationships. This role is active in credit underwriting, client relationship support, and portfolio administration.

The Commercial Portfolio Manager II partners closely with borrowers, Commercial Lending Officers, Credit Analysts, Loan Operations, Loan Assistants, and other internal stakeholders to provide an exceptional customer experience. They assist Commercial Loan Officers with monitoring portfolio quality while balancing loan production, all while responding promptly to customer needs. The position plays a critical role in supporting loan growth while maintaining sound credit quality and regulatory compliance. This role is involved throughout the loan and customer relationship life cycle, including financial monitoring, credit underwriting, risk assessment, covenant compliance, and preparation of credit presentations.

This role is suited for some who operates with a greater degree of independence, enjoys having a more active role in supporting relationship growth, and demonstrates a higher level of independent credit judgment. The Commercial Portfolio Manager II does so by handling more complex credit relationships, providing feedback on loan structure and risk, and serves as a key partner in managing commercial banking relationships.

The compensation minimum within the wage range for this position is $84,900 to $102,600 annually and will vary depending on what city the applicant works in. All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manages an assigned portfolio of credits, anticipating new opportunities, upcoming maturities, annual term loan reviews, and potential problems.
  • Assist in the collection of customer monitoring requirements such as borrowing bases, financial packaging collection, and others as required per loan covenants.
  • Work with loan officer in monitoring performance of individual credit relationships to identify risk and minimize potential losses. Prepares problem loan reports for problem credits. Recommends approval and/or changes in new or existing credit facilities.
  • Supports Relationship Managers in related portfolio management activities, whether related to credit, depository, or other banking services.
  • May Assist Relationship Managers with business development call preparation.
  • Responsible for the ongoing management of the portfolio, including developing a relationship with each client relationship.
  • Assist commercial lending officers with the collection, preparation, pre-underwriting analysis and submission of authorizations.
  • Actively participates in Bank related and community volunteer events as well as business development related activities.
  • Spreads and/or analyzes financial statements and tax returns of potential and existing customers using appropriate tools and credit criteria.
  • Assist commercial lending officers in the collection and review of regulatory compliance items, not limited to but including CRA, Adverse Action and other regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Remain educated about industry trends, community developments, market conditions and regulatory requirements and understand their effect of the banks' lending criteria.
  • Perform job functions in compliance with all company policies, federal and state rules and regulations as applicable to the position, including, but not limited to BSA/AML, CRA, HMDA, FHLB, OFAC, SOx and GLBA/privacy rules.

About You
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-4 years commercial portfolio management or credit analysis experience preferred
  • 3-4 years commercial banking experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial credit policy, regulations and credit quality standards
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and can deal with multiple variables
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with others in a clear, thorough and timely manner
  • Demonstrate a high level of organization, ability to prioritize and multi-task with attention to detail and accuracy, manage multiple projects, demonstrate self-motivation and ability to follow through with tasks
  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others; work to develop and maintain cooperative and positive working relationships; represent the bank in a positive manner and maintain credibility with others
  • Ability to produce work within directed timeframe without compromising integrity or quality of work
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding any information obtained during the course of performing job duties; adhere to Bank policies and procedures regarding confidentiality
  • Must be willing and comfortable to join lending officers in meetings with existing or prospective bank customers, and have the ability to travel to client meetings in the Denver metro area, when necessary

Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position.
