Job summary

AJL Plumbing & Heating LLC is seeking an experienced Commercial Plumbing Estimator to join our Long Island operation. This full-time role focuses on preparing plumbing estimates, performing material and labor takeoffs, and coordinating with vendors and project managers to win bids.

The ideal candidate has 3–10+ years in commercial plumbing estimating, strong math/data analysis skills, proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office, and the ability to manage bids from RFI to final proposal.

Qualifications

• Perform accurate material and labor takeoffs for estimates.
• Experience bidding on open shop and prevailing wage projects.

• Ability to manage bids from RFI through final proposal.
• Develop relationships with general contractors and suppliers.

AJL Plumbing & Heating is actively seeking an experienced Commercial Plumbing Estimator to join our Long Island operation. We are a fully licensed and insured plumbing & heating contractor handling commercial & residential across Nassau and Suffolk.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in mathematics, statistics, and data analysis
• Proficient in google suite and Microsoft Office
• Exceptional problem solving skills, the ability to fix issues quickly that are happening on jobsite and fall into the estimating process.
• Perform accurate material and labor takeoffs
• Primarily responsible for preparing plumbing estimates, identifying labor, material and time requirements, changing estimates with addendums and going over RFI's.
• Must be able to bid on both open shop and prevailing wage
• Maintain and update unit cost databases and vendor pricing
• Ability to work independently and carry-out assignments to completion during the entire course of estimating until proposal gets approved and handed off to project manager.
• Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of material, equipment and labor.
• Receive quotes from vendors/ suppliers for material and determine best for project and cost effectiveness.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with general contractors.
• Ability to follow up with bids and discuss best and final numbers with estimators and project managers to be awarded the job.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of Procure and building Connected for receiving bid files and sending out bid forms and proposals.
• Exceptional time management skills
• Must be able to meet deadlines on bids

3–10+ years commercial plumbing estimating and commercial plumbing field experience

This is a full time position from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday. Compensation is commensurate with experience, typically in the $70,000-$90,000 range
