Job summary

Mitsubishi Power Americas seeks a Commercial Operations Manager to support bid strategy development and proposal planning. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute deliverables, utilizing commercial terms and conditions to present proposals to management and customers with guidance from senior leadership.

Travel up to 25% in the US and Canada; BA/BS required with 3–5 years' experience in capital equipment or EPC proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics or related field required.
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting: proposal development for capital equipment, EPC, or industrial projects and contract review.
  • Familiarity with RFQ review and proposal structuring; strong written and verbal English.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to synthesize technical inputs into commercial summaries.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM familiarity (Dynamics/Salesforce).
  • Able to work effectively in cross functional teams; detail-oriented with accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and understand customer RFQs for gas turbines, power trains and EPC projects; act as primary liaison for equipment proposals.
  • Ensure each proposal has a clear winning strategy across scope, price, performance, service, financing, and fleet opportunities.
  • Prepare cost, risk, and commercial analyses for senior management approval and governance processes.
  • Maintain CRM and opportunities database; provide timely reports to Senior Management.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, and Cost Estimating to streamline proposal development.
  • Support negotiations by preparing commercial inputs and coordinating revisions with senior leadership.

Role Overview

The Commercial Operations supports bid strategy development and proposal planning under the direction of a Senior Commercial Operations Manager or Commercial Operations Director, collaborating with cross functional teams to execute proposal deliverables. Leverage knowledge of commercial terms and conditions to present proposals and commercial information to management and customers with guidance from senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, review, and understand customer RFQ’s for gas turbines, power trains and EPC projects; act as the primary liaison within the Lake Mary office to Owner and EPC clients for equipment proposals and consortium partnerships.
  • Ensure each proposal has a clear winning strategy that considers all aspects of scope, price, performance, service, financing, and fleet opportunities.
  • Prepare cost, risk, and commercial analyses for review and approval by senior management, supporting internal governance and approval processes.
  • Utilize the CRM system to manage and access all customer bid information; maintain the commercial operations opportunities database and provide timely and accurate reports to Senior Management.
  • Maintain weekly coordination with the Sales organization and assume responsibility for transfer and dissemination of pertinent deal data among the required internal functions.
  • Support contract negotiations by preparing commercial inputs, participating in negotiation discussions, and coordinating revisions under the guidance of senior commercial leadership and Legal.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Cost Estimating to reduce proposal preparation efforts.
  • Manage and maintain prior quote data for effective target pricing and quick turnarounds.
  • Coordinate with responsible internal and external suppliers and MPWA senior management to support proposal development and pricing activities.
  • Communicate with customers in the Americas to understand new equipment needs during user events, bid meetings and customer visits.
  • Support the development of new product offerings and company initiatives.
  • Travel Up to 25% in the US and Canada.
  • Perform such other duties as may be required from time to time by the company.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or related field required. Engineering degree preferred. MBA a plus, not required.
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting: Proposal development for capital equipment, EPC, or industrial projects, contract review and commercial analysis and exposure to power generation, energy, oil and gas, or industrial manufacturing projects preferred.
  • Working knowledge of: equipment supply and/or EPC contracts, commercial terms such as payment terms, warranties, LDs, scope definitions, and familiarity with RFQ review and proposal structuring.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to synthesize technical inputs into commercial summaries.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint required).
  • CRM familiarity (Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, or equivalent).
  • Able to work effectively in cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and accountability.
  • Comfortable escalating risks and asking clarifying questions.
